25 Talon top speed
I was wondering how fast a 25' Single I/O Talon tunnel has been?
There is one that runs out of VA that GPS's around 120-121 consistently, saw it run this past weekend.
He was beaten by a 24 Daytona, and plans to step the power up to run over 130.
Is that hull safe to go that fast, it seemed to be dancing across the water a lot at 120. It looked to me like the deadrise of the tunnels is more flat than other tunnels I've seen run and it actually seemed to sit right up on the water instead of going thru the water, sort of reminded me of a large STV.

Thats a good question. I have a 1989 Talon with twin 225 promaxes that will run 97 with a good headwind. I will be interested to see more info on power and speed.

With 2.4s (250 hp) and 2.5s 260hp the Talon will run 105 consistantly. With 280s it will be in the low to mid teens. The 2.5s are 375#s each and the 3 liter motors are 500+. Comparing the Talon to a 24 Skater or a 25 Motion the true tunnel is only a couple of mph faster. The 105 mph 280s Talon, Speicher referenced, needs to work on his setup. He is leaving alot on the table. They are great boats for up to 3 footers. Anything larger than that is more than the hull can deal with. A group in Fla. a while back was putting a big blower motor in a Talon with a #6 behind it. I don't remember reading any results on performance.

I thought I was beeing a bit conservative - better than than over- LOL.... but I remember the owner was playing with props and gave up some top end on the everyday running set for the set that popped the boat onto plane easier.
The 24 Skater was faster by a few than the talon

Spot on Speicher. My friends Motion, which is a Skater copy ran 2 mph faster than the Talon with equal power and rode like a Cadillac in the rough.
