377 Talon
What do I need to know about them ? I think I am buying one this weekend. 900 with dry #6's.
They are fast stable dont porpoise there is a pristine one at double r in orillia. Lived on a lift rarely used 140ish
I have very little seat time in mine, but so far I like it. The cabin is great for our style of boating. The boat has a ton of storage for a cat. Side, floor, behind the seat in the cabin and top deck. I have a 2003 377 with 6's and 525 efi's and it ran a best of 94 GPS when we ran it in Florida. Since then we have turned the drive in and I'm told it should be faster. Talked to Hustler the other day and they said it should run 100 with the 525's. I haven't ran the boat WFO yet here at home. Still getting use to it and making sure it's not going to do anything I'm not ready for. The floor storage lids are not the best idea, I've broke one already.

Go for it Randy! I was going to buy the outboard version at Pier57 until Zastrow picked it up earlier this year. The build quality of mine, a 1989, is better than most boats/cats built today.

I like mine. Gary Armington built a good boat. I am sure the quality held forward to the Hustler years. Have fun with the boat and be safe. Doug
Did you buy the boat from Double R ?
Yes. Just finished painting bilge and re-rigging some parts. Sent trans to BAM should have them back end of this week. Pretty excited about getting it wet with my power.
so you bought the boat without power? what are you putting in it?
950's
out of curiosity why bother with all the work for 50 hp? love that boat! I know the previous owner well
The previous owner dropped a valve in one of the engines as we were working on a deal. Plus my engines are pretty fresh and dry sumped.. I had been looking for a cat with no engines.
How did it run before? |
post some pics of your work in progress :drink:
sounds like a fun ride with that power. post up some picks
Will get some when I back to shop this weekend.
Congrats on the purchase Randy. I look forward to seeing it in person.
Thanks,
Got trans back today. They look awesome, if that means anything. |

Well, finally got a little done on engines. Waiting on PS pumps and Hardin marine crossovers.
very nice enjoy it
I can't wait to chase you around the lake and watch it fly! All the rain has flood Murray with debris keeping me from running mine over the holidays. It was 70*+ this past weekend, 60* today and winter officially arrives tonight with a low of 17*!
A lot more rigging to this piece than the old Fountain, trying to get it right the first time.
Yep , this rain has all my grading/ sea wall work on hold. |
How's the rigging coming along Randy?
I finally got one of the engines in Saturday. Dry sump pump brackets have to be changed along with alternator brackets. Fun, fun. Intercoolers should be here Friday. TJ has the alternator brackets I need, but he is in Florida.
Other than that it's coming. |
Leave it to TJ to go to Florida in your time of need! Sounds like you should be ready to splash about the time it starts to warm up. Keep on pluggin Randy.
I've got a 2003 377 that I am finally (!) finishing up the rebuild of both motors. Complete rebuild too. Everything new or rebuilt. From oil and fuel pumps to distributors, to pistons and top ends, to transmissions. This one is a little special - it's a KE Limited 377. Has two 900 HP KE motors. Merc 6's, massive 5 blade props. Going to put it up for sale when it's finished, which I expect it to be done in about 3 weeks. Going to be asking a very reasonable price too.
Do you have some pics!
Why you going to sell it ? Everything on mine is going to be new as well. Are your engines dry sumped ? Having trouble getting the right brackets for oil pump and alternator. |
Mine is dry sumped. Why would the brackets be any different than any other big block application?
Pump is hitting the stringer. I just got some new brackets today will try them tomorrow. I would like to see what you have. Any engine shots ?

I have lots of pics, anyone know how to get them off my iPhone 6 on to OSO? My tattle tale gps speedo says it's been to 146.7 mph. I had it to 122 and 128 at Lake Tahoe with 4 blade props. Changed pulleys (added 4 teeth) so it will now have 900 hp each at tahoe 6250 ft elevation. Put 5 blade props back on. Got all heads on, waiting for mechanic to get back to work on it. Got intakes, intercoolers, superchargers (1071s) and fuel injection to put back on. Mechanic was supposed to work on it yesterday but he has been out. Maybe tomorrow... |
By the way, this is the most stable boat I have driven at speed
Sweet ! I hope I have all that bracket crap worked out now. I'll be on it tomorrow hard.
Everything together, man does this thing sound wicked. Can't wait to get it in the water and hear both motors at the same time. Will try to post some pics off my PC tomorrow morning
I've been in mine at 103 so far with 525 EFI's and 6's can't wait to see how yours runs.

Still adjusting on carbs and fuel system. Ran it up to 115 last Sunday, around 4800 rams. Easy into it. Rock solid so far. It's runnig rich in the mid range and hard to dock. Those big props load it hard when you put in gear.
Every weekend gets better. |
Congrats on finally getting it in the water.
Hope the Beast is running good for you Randy. It looks good in the water. You opened her up yet? I ran 83 with two, 30gallons of fuel and 250 pounds of stuff at 6500. Need smaller props. My guess was 140s.
