Right now I'm running a 5 bladed 25p Herring and a 5 bladed Hyrdromotive. I'm still trying to get it dialed in. I sent the Herring back to Herring to have it rework. It was slow to plane and I could only get 5600 - 5700rpm out of it with a max speed of 77mph. They're going to trim the diameter down from 15.5 to 15.25 and release a little cup. I ran the Hydromotive for the first time the other day the hole shot was good but 77mph at 6000rpm. I was only able to top it out once for a short time so I can't say for sure that I wasn't over trimming it. I need to run it a few more times to know for sure.

Is that a 625-50 or 710?

I had better luck with 4 blades than 5's on my rig.

With a 710 you want to shoot for 5900 RPM

It's a 625. I may try a 4 blade again if these don't work out. What type of 4 blade do you run?

I keep coming back to a 4 blade bravo 28 with a bit of work done to it. Just a bit.

If I'm at altitude or in high heat ill drop down to a 4 blade 26.

Im running the Imco -2 shorty lower.

My 2750 is about the size of your boat and I run 85 all the time (MEad /havasu etc) best of 90 once on a freezing cold morning (literally 40 degrees) at elsinore running a 30 maximus which I cant normally pull under other conditions

I think you have a bit more speed in this but not a lot.

Using the rule of 20/1 with 75 ponies more Im going 8MPH faster (in a similar but not identical sized boat) If I theoretically remove 75 HP from my ride the rule says I should be going 3.75MPH slower.

In other words I think with optimum setup you can get about 80-81 out of your rig, but the time and effort to get there may not be worth it for you.

Of course Im basing what I think based on what works for me in a similar sized but not identical rig.
Your boat is a just bit bigger an heavier with a full load of fuel than mine (think you carry 150?) so maybe 79-80.

Pretty impressive for a single engine 30ft boat.

I run the ocean a lot and have directly correlated the life of my drive to ocean vs lake use- a 5 blade in the ocean would likely be a real short proposition before rebuild.
