Progressive has raised their limit to 75 mph. I have 2 525's which are beyond the 1000 hp limit, however their marine underwriter said that prop HP is less than what the engine is rated at. Anyone know what that is? XR 1.5 drives w/boxes. The quote was 1K less than Markel and I can go to Fla for Poker runs this winter. Also no layup! Any help? 05 382

Progressive does allow prop hp to rate with. With your 525's, it is safe to say you have 500 prop hp per engine (1,000 total). There are some other benefits to that policy also. Give me a call or shoot me an email and I will discuss further.

I don't know about 525EFI's PSHP, but I do know that the PSHP on my 525SC was 490hp. probably the same for the 525EFI's.

The $1,000 savings gets you something else too.......A career change in trying to get your money if you ever file a claim. (At least that's what a buddy of mine practically did to get his paid.)

A buddy had Progressive and the boat was lost in a warehouse fire a couple winters ago. Although the boat was an 89 it had been completely restored with 2003 hardware, speedmaster drives, new interior, paint, etc. He had it insured for what it was worth as it sat but when it came time to pay the claim they were only willing to pay NADA "book" value. Took him almost 2 years to get it settled somewhere between the 2 numbers.

(that's why Markel at $1,000 more might be the better deal)

You could go with an agreed value policy too, that's what I have.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm 99% positive that the propshaft rating on the 525's is ...525HP. They dyno at between 560-575.

Could be right but 2 other boats in that warehouse had State Farm.......within 7 days both of those owners had checks for the full insured amount.
