I get pulled over just for being loud and stand out. Dont have to have insurance in NC unless the bank requires it. Being Coast Guard Docked usually keeps the local guys away.

Hell no I don't get stopped that much. BUT around here they just look and say, OH hell we can't catch him - lets hit up this pontoon boat

You'd be surprised to know how many people DON'T have insurance on their boats....mind boggling......

Not sure why you would want to operate a boat w/o insurance. If it's the high premium that's a problem you might want to look into getting at least liability coverages. When you break down the premiums the highest cost is the coverage for your property, your hull, your drives, etc. Liability coverages are relatively cheap and unless you have ut financed you are not required to cover your boat. You do want to be covered for damages to others, environment, etc. You should be able to get a lot of coverage fairly cheap.
