Default Allstate Ins. Quote Is this for real????

I just got a rate increase on mty auto so I decided to shop. If I insure everything...house,boats,and cars this is what I was quoted!

They will write my Pachanga listed with 600HP and top speed of 90! Liability Only on the Pachanga and $40000 Agreed value on my 2003 Powerquest 260 for $540 per year!

Has anyone had any experience with allstate. I asked the agent and told her most Companies will not write the Pachanga and everyone says they will write it only to have the underwriters kick it out. She said she talked with underwriting and they will write the Pachanga.

None of the major insurers have stellar records on claims payment. If you run a search, you'll find stories on either side of the fence, mostly on the negative side. I personally wouldn't go with anyone that wasn't a high-performance marine specialist. I also wouldn't see a family doctor if I had a brain tumor. Not worth the gamble. I want to rest easy knowing that the man with the check will show up and not hassle me if I F- up really bad someday.

I posted my experience with State Farm on a couple other threads but what it amounted to was the rate was great, the coverage was great as well - UNFORTUNATELY once it was finally at the underwriters it was denied and they cancelled my insurance effective July 3rd.

If you go with a major player just be prepared for the underwriters to throw it out.

I believe it would be a nightmare if I had a claim on the Pachanga. LOL,over 20K of the value is High performance improvements. I am mainly interested in getting liability, always trailer the boat so I'm not too worried about theft(knock on wood). If I screw up the boat it's my bad. Both the boats with full coverage is a little over a grand(valued the Pachanga at $30K). I just don't think I'll be using the boat enough to justify Full Coverage as the wify will definately be making me use the Powerquest the most!

My big question is do you thing they will write it and then kick it out?

LOL! Funny you should answer as I was posting. I also got a quote from State Farm. They would not write the Pachanga and were nearly 50% higher on the auto insurance than Allstate!

Well, seeing as I want only liability I can't see how they could refuse a claim(that will hopefully never happen). I have always been somewhat of a self-insurer(high deductibles or no comp and collisin) to a degree. Knock on wood I have probably saved enough in insurance premiums over the years to pay for 4 Pachangas! Liability is a different story...I always keep high limits and an umbrella policy.

You stated $40K agreed value on the other boat.

Yes...but it is stock for now and don't see where I should have a problem if I did have a claim. (Evidently the agent must have talked to an underwriter in the know because she said they would not write a Powerquest 38 Pokerrun model). Now when I install the Raylar kit I bought for it things might change! We will be using the Powerquest quite a bit more. The full coverage is basically the same price I was quoted on the Pachanga.

You really need to search this forum. There are dozens and dozens of stories about denied claims on boats that were damaged. Stock, modified, whatever. That's not the basis for the denials. Now, if you aren't 100% truthful with your insurer on everything they ask- especially power & speed, you might as well flush those premium dollars down the toilet.
