Default Poker Run Insurance?

I know I should call My agent and I will But,,,

Does a Typical Boat insurance Policy from say Progressive, cover poker runs? They are not races.
My boat is an '02 34' Powerquest 496's

Thanks

I am insured thru Progressive and asked my agent the same thing. He said I was covered as long as i was within 75 miles of shore. I specifically asked if doing a poker run would void anything on my policy and was told NO.

Shawn D......Most High Performance policies cover Poker Runs. The only exception I see on occassion is when the operator has very little high performance ownership experience. In these rare cases, the insurance carrier will add an endorsement before issuing the policy stating that Poker Runs are exlcuded. Again, this is extremely rare, but you should check with your agent to be 100% sure.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies,
I called my Agent, she says the same as above, But she wasn't 100% sure. She's calling the underwriter to confirm. But with what all has been said, I think I'm OK to run.

I'd just like to know now & not the hard way

How can they not?? unless it is specified in the contract? If you all keep asking sooner or later their going to say NO!!!!

You all going to ask them if they cover you at the next raft up?? with beads and T/A being shown??

I used to have Progressive and my agent told me THEY WOULD NOT COVER POKER RUNS. I remember that distinctly. It didn't matter to me at the time anyway, but I do remember that.

I no longer have Progressive thankfully.

I received and email stating that as long as it is not a sanctioned "RACE", it is covered. The "In Writing" sounded like a good Idea.

BajaWill, I have to disagree. I can't assume anything in this world. And I certainly don't have the cash to fight em in court arguing after the fact. They have way bigger lawyers and lobbiest than I. They are sellling me a product, I want to know what the product is or isn't. I am sure some one will sell me the product I want.
I understand your point though, they are trying to lower rates to be competitve and therfore lowering cost as well, by not letting us know what is not covered.
Not a hell of a lot different than our goverment. How many laws are on the books? Thousands.. Howmany did we get taught in public school? None. You usually learn them after the fact.

I have Progresive on my Bike. seems good to me. $225 for a bike that goes 160mph. or at least 155 once. However I am needing to shop for cheaper Boat insurance.

Shawn

I understand, my point is, did you ask progressive if they cover your bike for motorcycle Poker Runs???

What if your not in a Poker Run but a boat you get into an accident is?? Are you covered then??

I agree most insurance companies will deny any claim they possible can for any reason they can.

My point is if customers continue to ask for it in writing they will stop covering then and put an exclusion in the policy!

Sincerely

WILL
