Default 1982 Model Liability, Storage, and Transport

Are there any options? I am looking for transport, storage and liability only. Full coverage seems to be out of the question.

What can you do with these things? I do not want to quit towing it and avoid using it. What about sitting in storage?

The boat is a 1982 40 Excalibur that has been fully restored. I have no need for a newer boat and want to cover at least some value of this thing. I have owned had it for 10 years with no claims.

I am hearing that my issues are age and value. At this point, my age, speed of the boat and horsepower havent been an issue. I have a survey lined up but see no use unless someone will even consider it.

Help me continue boating!

Hey there,

I think we may have talked already but for the sake of sharing information that may assist others in your situation, here is the information:

What you are asking for is a watercraft policy that excludes its main purpose, use on water.

The insurance industry's WATERCRAFT polices are broken down into Full coverage and liability only options. You are not able to dissect them and pick and choose the "type of losses" it will cover it for. The carrier's rates are structured on the WHOLE risk and not broken down into X amount is charged for the on water use portion and Y is charged for the trailering portion etc. What I am trying to say is that what you want doesn't exist.

HOWEVER!!!!!! You might be able to purchase the following to get what you want, but I think you're going to find that when you purchase these policies separately, you might as well have just bought a full-fledged marine policy and not have so many "holes" in your coverage.

You could purchase a liability only watercraft policy and then purchase a separate INLAND MARINE policy to cover your storage/transit part.

Not sure how much this helps but you asked for an option...

Thanks, and yes we have talked before. I have learned a little since then, had some quotes and find myself even more confused than before. I will be calling.

We have the ability to write transit and storage policies, we can also write a seperate policy that will warrant liability coverage to you while on the water. You will need a hauled survey that is less than one year old and it must be approved by underwriting, but other than that it should be an easy process.

If you would like you may contact me by phone or use our online form in order to receive a quote.

Thanks!
Adam
