Survey/Insurance?
Well now that I own the boat everything is handled NOW the ins co calls me and tells me they want a survey, anyone know of anyone who doesn't require one?
|
Why wouldn't you want to have one done? Actually you propably should have had it done before your purchase was finalized. It protects you as well as the ins. co. Depending on how much $insurance your looking for I doubt if any ins. wil not require one over a certain dollar ammount of their liability.

Fireboat, I simply cannot justify 400 to tell me what i know, I'd rather blow 400 in gas, there's nothing with a boat that a surveyor is gonna tell me, with the exception of a moisture meter, I have access to one too, several years back friend went to FL for a boat that surveyed 100% it was a pile including mold and things not being fastened where there sposed to be, since then I have no faith in a surveyor, and Ive met our local surveyor and he a even bigger idiot, so I'm just trying to fill my pockets instead of someone else's when there no need

the need for a survey depends on your boat and the power. Some carriers do require a survey and others don't. This requirement mainly occurrs due to age of the boat.

I think you may be missing the point, The insurance company wants the survey to protect them not you. (they could care less about you) That way if anything goes wrong, they can pull it up immediately to see if it was there when they insured it. (ie: get out of paying the claim)
I realize we all have to have insurance, but that does not mean we have to like it. Don't even get me started on health insurance... |
