I'm in the market for a new to me boat, looking mostly at 38 top guns and Baja 38 specials. However i have stumbled onto a problem. No one wants to insure a 24 year old male for a 38' Cig, regardless of power. Clean MVR and several years previous boat experiance, as well as the State boater safety course. Does anyone know of someone who would insure a younger boat owner?

What about insuring the boat in your parents name with you on the policy listed as the operator/driver?

I've priced a couple boats ranging from 1991 to 2000. Figured it was pointless to look at newer models, but from what ive seen, Age really didnt seem to alter the decision.

when i called stacey for a quote being my boat is older i needed to have a survey done before getting insurance. better ask what the year cut off is on that

You might have issues insuring the older boats... the boats 10-14 y/o and newer should be much easier to insure. Call Stacy at Wakezone.

It is definitely a factor. If you were going to store your personal assets in a waterproof box in the ocean, would you want the box to be 10 years old or 30 years old? Your boat is their asset box.

Lots of things factor. Even credit score, and financial wellness.

Where have you shopped? If you are looking at boats that do more that 74 mph on paper you can basically throw out the major insurance companies. Like the others have said, Sy and Stacey are the experts and I am sure they can get you insured. May be expensive for the first year or two, but without claims it will drop quickly.

my asset box is 27 years old... can i get classic or antique insurance??

Just sayin. Sometimes older boats are harder to insure, especially for a high risk 24 year old.

I've had my TG 3 years and im 22 now. 500s in it and insured through geico. Started out kinda steep. But now im around $700 a year
