Cat Insurance

I received a non renewal notice the Midland is no longer writing insurance for high-performance. Is there anyone that can do a 36 Nortech?

bigfarmer 03-20-2020 01:16 PM

Devin Wozencraft is highly recommend!!!

ALL_IN! 03-20-2020 01:51 PM

Call Chris Wagner or Christy Wright at Wagner Insurance Agency (WIA) at LOTO.

They use Merkel and they won't insure any boats with M6/M8 drives.

This isn't last summer. The 3 big major carriers pulled out.

i just talked to her because I was nervous, and she said she can 100% insure high performance cats. Maybe its something on your end???

sy goldberg 03-20-2020 06:22 PM

The company that I retired from after 27 years is the only source that has a fast cat program.I have some knowledge about this program as I helped to create the underwriting guidelines and after many years this program still lives.

Wakezone said they will be able to provide insurance for any MPH boat. I believe her because my Mystic ran 210.

She must be a agent for Total Dollar because that is the only company that will insure a Cat

She’s not, but the same company is probably providing the insurance.

Who was insuring it?

575cat 03-23-2020 08:46 AM

I was boat shopping .

berns29scarab 03-30-2020 03:25 PM

alot has changed in the last 30-60 days. 120mph is the sweet spot. there are only 1-2 companies underwriting above that speed and they are hen pecking who they accept and "IF" they accept you the premiums are damn near doubled. that was one of the key factors for my client that just purchased a new Mystic C3800 cat w 450's as it's only a 110mph boat and was easily insurable thru Christy at WIA

sy goldberg 03-30-2020 04:43 PM

High premium for cats over 120

There is a valid reason for high premiums on these cats. The claims are usually high dollar or even worse, fatalities involved.I know because in my many years writing policies for fast cats the worst 2 phone calls I ever received were from 2 new widows that lost their husbands and relatives over the weekend. There are still lots of people buying fast cats and paying big dollars for them. There is only one US LICENSED,,ADMITTED,NON SURPLUS LINES company and they are still writing these policies for over 11 years because of careful vetting of the operator.

sooo are you actually ever going to say who the company is?

302Sport 03-30-2020 10:19 PM

Sy, with typical liability limits, my turbine boats were costing about $5k for every $100k worth of hull coverage annually. So, a $400k boat would be about $20k a year for insurance. Is this still around the same pricing you’re seeing now?

I think your sources are WRONG dewayne , Stacy is a good friend and insures a lot of boats and Cats may want to REcheck your info

Unlimited jd 04-01-2020 08:17 AM

Do people realize when they make posts like that some others take it as absolute truth and the end of their research? Should be a little more responsible with your information.

Left 2 messages with her and she has not returned my call. Guess no need to waste our time if she can't cover it.

302Sport 04-04-2020 07:19 AM

She never got back to you, so you came on here claiming she can’t do it??!!!!? WTF

sy goldberg 04-04-2020 10:05 AM

Everyone just stay calm, many companies have stopped writing high performance insurance,Agents are scrambling, rumors are flying. This will all sort out after the virus problem is over.

If she just picked up a new company I would like to know but I have a feeling it is Total Dollar.

drejustice 04-16-2020 07:36 AM

I wonder who everyone is using for the new cats with 450s? Makes me possibly reconsidering:confused:

All these boats with the 450 go over 120 MTI 34 n 39 , Doug Wright 36, DCB m33.

315duramax 04-16-2020 09:27 AM

LOL I love posts like these!

SO MANY cats have been bought and sold in the last few months/weeks. You think none of these people have insurance? Give me a break. I have a horrible driving record (NY Police state) tickets you for just about anything. 26 years old.

I just talked to my insurance guy maybe 2 weeks ago, who is working with wozencraft. said ya no problem. 2010 skater. Big power big drives. Said it wouldnt cost much more than my 2005 OL was costing me. 7-8k a year for full coverage. My buddy just bought a 36 Nortech with big power. First time cat owner, first time boat owner over 80 mph, got insured no problem through wozencraft... hes 27 years old, $160,000+ value 140+ mph big power cat , FIRST TIME CAT OWNER. Hes paying like $8500 a year or something. Idk where these people are getting 10 or 20k a year insurance thats just asinine. Were young guys, with fast expensive (in our world expensive. Sure its not a 600k boat) and were well below 10K a year. Both got insured NO problems. SO, ya, not sure what everyones talking about.

This thread has nothing to do with Stacy but do whatever floats your boat.

sy goldberg 04-17-2020 10:46 AM

I wonder what the shelf life of the company in thread 37 will be using those underwriting guidelines.I pointed out that several companies pulled the plug recently using similar rules and by deceptive applications by the insured or agent.
