Trying to locate insurance for a cat that is 25+ years old and runs mid 120s. I have previous cat experience and the company’s I insured with before won’t insure a boat that old. Anyone have a policy on an older boat that is willing to share who they insured through? Thanks, Rob

I agree with Sydwayz. You might be able to find someone who will insure it but the cost wouldn't make sense for the boat's value. Most states don't require boat insurance. A personal liability umbrella can't hurt but you should check with your local insurance agent with exactly what that is protecting.

Ok, just spoke to my agent for my umbrella policy. Just using my umbrella will not cover the boat or any potential injuries or damage. She told me the umbrella is a secondary coverage to your original policy, and that most likely my current umbrella coverage wouldn’t even except the policy for the vessel because of the speeds. The vessel would have to be named on the umbrella, if that makes sense.
All that said, I’m still looking for options.
