Due,

Looks great !

Did ya notice a difference in handling or gains with your drives upgraded ?

Thanks
Jon

Jon-
the handling is better when it's rough, but I don't know about top speed: haven't made any full throttle runs yet.
I'll keep you posted.

John, The Jag looks great. I will be asking you for a number for the conversion, cost number that is, but I can't move on that until this winter. My Jag is done and I have somewhere around 12 trouble free hours on it. I just returned from my boating vacation, 4400 miles towing the Jag from Cal. to Dubuque, Ia. and from there to LOTO and back to Sacramento in 12 days. Five days driving and the rest boating. I had the best vacation of my life. Teresa flew in like a rock star so she only had to ride from Iowa to the Ozarks and then after 5 days there back to Sacramento in the Kodiak. No trouble with permits and I passed by every scale holding my breath. I was warned by the DNR in Iowa about noise and installed my HPI mufflers for Loto and although reluctant at first I will keep them on to be politically correct and not have the embarrassment of people applauding when I would shut the motors down. I am not legal for sound but the bark is gone and I am trying. The boat ran flawless and although I dinged a Herring 5 blade on the Mississippi and have since sent it to Brett @ BBlades, the trip was a success. I packed two sets of props so the trip was not ruined by my stupidity. Loto is the best boating lake I have ever experienced. I am planning a trip, two years out, but am hoping to spend 6 weeks being a boat tramp. I will post pics as soon as I find my camera to download them into my computer. I feel my luck changing for the best. Be safe and post more pics. I need some performance numbers. Doug

DUE,

The boat looks great!! How did the outdrives turn out?

Dueclaws 06-20-2007 08:09 PM

Great news Doug: seems like you and Teresa had a great trip. Email me and I'll give you more info: when you're ready.

I don't have performance numbers on the drives yet: no full throttle runs. We tested some of Richard Monicles old 5 blade props last weekend, but they wouldn't "hook-up" and we lost 10 mph. So we're back to trying props again.
After everythings working correctly and we have good props, we'll post some numbers.

What pitch are you using? I have a nice set of 17x 31's that are labbed and perfect that you can borrow for testing. My herrings should be back from Brett soon. They are 16.25 x 29 and were really smooth and fast. I should have trip pics by the weekend. Doug

Doug
We've been using Merc Lab 17.5 x 35, 4 blades and Richard's 5 blades are Merc 16 x ? (stamped 37" pitch, Bruce said less than 35"). Since the 40' is heavy and has lower horsepower, we use 1.5-1 ratio and I believe your lighter and higher HP
35' uses 1.35; thus, the difference in pitch requirement.
I'd like to buy a set of Herings or maybe Merc or Throttle Up CNC props. Gino has a set of Herings for sale, but they're 38" pitch, which may be too much.
Thanks for the offer!
John
