Looking good.....how much hp you gonna be running? What prop are you thinking about running?

Philm 12-21-2009 08:58 PM

That is a sweet looking engine you got there.

You originally said somewhere around 650hp, so depending on what kind of speed you are shooting for, a 30p Labbed Bravo 1 should put you right at 90mph at 6000rpm, depending on your prop depth of course.

650hp should put him around 95mph with a light load:drink:

I dont know about that.... Don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure that Don's 29' is putting out a bit over 650hp and has run a best of just over 90mph with a very high X at 6000rpm. I would think that a solid 700hp would run mid 90's, maybe high 90's on a perfect day.

But could be possible with a very light load and perfect set up.

This boat is built pretty heavy...but its also a bare bones boat. Were actually going to detune the motor just a bit because of the 75 mph restrictions...were thinking more like 550 hp and 6000 now for a longer living torquey motor...the X is real hihg on this boat.

Phil,
MRD said the motor was 750hp with there race cam, They detuned it for pleasure boating but didn't re dyno it. They guessed 625-650 hp They said it was a 509, well its apart and has a Crower 4.125 crank rods and .Ross pistons in it (no stamp on the pistons I need to measure the bore).... so a little over 509... .
I agree I think mid 90's with the right setup will take 700hp. I have a documented 800+ hp that ran 98 mph and 104 when he put a much needed larger carb on it. But the X is a little deep and the prop is not labbed yet. So in my opinion 650 hp 90, 700 mid 90's 800 hp 105 mph. 1000+ hp we will see

Tell me more about this class... how do they know if you go over the 75mph? A gps on the boat? can you go over it at all or is it a DQ? Is it a straight race or roundy round?

Sh*t, maybe I got lucky then! JCPerformance, around 620hp with wrong prop and a broken trim, two people and almost 3/4 tank of gas pulled out 89mph.....
