The new project

I just found this thread!!!! Racing is different then pleasure so with that being said all I know about is racing. After years of running the Kryptonite I have just a little knowledge on what works best in a racing set up. If you want to be competitive in class 5 its about being consistent for 40 miles. Its nice to lead but its better to win. Build your power for reliability!!!! The boat will take more punishment than you can. Put 200 -300lbs in the beak of the boat and try not to use any tabs. Im talkin Ocean City. Keep your X dimension deep aprox -3 bellow the bottom. I have always run a 4 blade hydro. This should keep the boat level with a true 1'-3' chop. Keep the throttle to the dash unless you are sure you are stern out of the water. You may think you are flying but most of the time you are still eating water at the prop. A strong XR drive can take a beating with 600 HP.
I read you guys were chine walking when you trim up. What did you expect? Thats when you get fast and need to drive the boat. Not all boats react the same but in a Kryptonite when its loose and walking jerk the wheel to the left and right like you are driving a dirt car through a turn. You dont see them just holding the wheel. Trust me it will settle the boat down with out lifting. Is it comfortable HELL NO! It scares the **** out of you the first few times. If you are racing you have no choice. Lifting is not an option.
My biggest fear is more people will by Kryptonite's and race them. For some crazy reason they just didnt sell to racers well. YOU WILL NEVER GO WRONG WITH THIS BOAT. I have won 4 World Championships with it and Kirt The owner won 1 World Championship with it. I hope you win one every year you race it as long as its not against me in my Kryptonite. I still have some posters of the boat from 2002 if you guys what one. E-mail me your addresses and I will send.
I love Lake George maybe we can all meet up this summer with our boats.

In my opinion the CG on your race boat is a little to far back as is mine on my black boat. The race dash puts our seats a little further back. I like the idea of moving the motor forward for the ocean races and it would be really trick if you made motor mounts on a rail so you could change the placement with just a longer drivshaft. Being that the max speed is 75MPH in class 5 I was thinking of even lowering the X to -4 and trying a 5 blade prop. Top speed means nothing but excelaration is king. Its worth a try. If you had the time and money it wouldnt hurt to re glass in the transom and lower the motor another 2". At the time when we cut the gimbal out the rule was everyone had to race with standard lowers. Im not a big fan of the ballast tanks. Over the years they have caused me more problems than anything. Hose's leaking, pumps break and dont drain. Extra wires and levers. I like it as simple as passable with less things to go wrong. Until someone comes up with a faster way to get rid of the water out of the tank and a way to fill it without slowing you down or using your exhaust water its to dam slow. The conditions always change on a different leg of the course. You will be filling on the calm stretch with a 1/4 mile to go so you will be set for the rough and all the time you are going slower and slower until you get to the turn. The same then goes to dumping you have to dump in the last 1/4 mile to set up for the calm. Its very hard to get any rhythm doing that. Keep the boat as lite as possible and balanced as possible. Im not telling you anything probualy dont know. Just want to help if I can.

Haha nahhh mean I aprreciate it, you know this boat better than anyone. The transom is basically plugged right now, stringers are being dealt with and some other small glass stuff. The balast tank is a big if..ocean city will let us know lol. We learned allll about breaking out last year...48 times lol
