A NuEra 4 us
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Lavey bunch...
Just wanted to drop in and show off our new to us 2750. HotLavey (Tom) has given up the reins to his fast moving 2750 NuEra to my wife and I. We are excited to have this opportunity to start a new era of boating after being Nordic loyalist for many years. The boat is currently wounded in the motor department but that's just how I would of wanted it :drink: The full transition will now begin! Guess I'm going to have to change my screen name as it no longer applies... I'd like to say thanks to Tom for holding on to this ride until I could arrange to take it off his hands. I feel we got a ton of boat in the deal and look forward to the project. I'd also like to thank Jeff at Lavey for getting our windshield done within the tight timeframe prior to pickup. Dave and Jackie |
Love the windshield.
Welcome Uncle Dave |
How did they mount the windshield? Take more pics please and show the engine when complete! Congrats you're gonna love the boat.
|
Nice ride!!! What year is it?
|
nice :)
|
Beautiful! Whats in store for the mill?
|
Thanks guys. 2002 with the fully worked bottom.
The mill is still in the works but should push her pretty well :) I'll keep the build updated as it moves along... Thanks, Dave |
Great looking boat!
|
Dave,
I liked your Nordic better............. you knew that was coming right? Just kidding, the wife and I were both impressed. I'm sure it's gonna fly. Stay in touch. |
Awesome! Welcome to the Lavey family!
|
Good looking boat I sold my 2750 last year and bought a Nordic heat this year the Lavey is by far a better boat in my opinion already tryn to sell nordic for another Lavey

Im very curious as to what it is you dislike about the Nordic heat. Thanks Uncle Dave |
Dave...how's the new Lavey working out for you this summer?

I'm saving a lot of gas money :) It's going slow. I was planning on trying to hit the water before the Summer was over but probably not going to happen. Too many things I want to do and they all take time. Planning on having the motor ready for the dyno in October. Once that's done it will be time to get started on tearing the drive down and adding a little strength to her, then the gages come out for new Monsters, new updated panels, steering wheel, etc.... It seems a ways off but Spring will be here quick. I stiill go sit in it once and a while and have a cold one while pondering how she'll run :cool-smiley-011: Thanks, Dave |
Love to see your new ride in person.
UD |
Hey UD. We head south to Havasu, Powell, and Mead pretty regularly. Maybe next year we can cross paths...
Does Lavey still have a regatta? Thanks, Dave |

Does Lavey still have a regatta? Thanks, Dave I stomp around those places a lot. Would love to connect sometime. Always looking for new friends Lavey hasn't done an official regatta in a while, but they did what they called a nadda regatta. Basically a bunch of Lavey owners getting together with no formality. They've organized a few Fun Runs to Catalina though - as well fitting the big water nature of the boats. UD |

We ran a Rage out there in the ski races a few years back as my good friend had to to do it. He finished :) Thanks, Dave |
A new Heart Beat
:drink:Well, the new Lavey heart is pumping now!
From the pile of parts, the 500EFI has been resurrected… OK, maybe reborn is a better word as the only parts left from the 500EFI are the pulleys and exhaust :drink: I was able to hit my target date of October to be able to dyno the motor at Haxby Speed in Vancouver BC and avoid any travel/weather issues. I wouldn’t generally drive that far to dyno a motor but it involved towing my daughters car from Utah to Seattle so the motor tagged along for the ride. Turns out it was well worth the tow as Alex (Haxby) was great to work with in making her come alive. The basic parts for the buildup were a Dart std deck block (555ci, 8.3:1 CR), Callies Dragon Slayer crank, Howards Ultimate Duty rods, JE ceramic coated pistons topped off with AFR325 heads that were CNC and hand ported by Tony Mamo personally (handled by Bob Madera) and a Marine Kinetics cam. For induction Dustin Whipple set me up with an upgraded 500EFI kit that included a 4.0L Whipple and MOAC, and a upgraded Eliminator Fuel system. This is now all controlled by the new Holley EFI electronics which is very nice! The target boost is 10 lbs with the conservative 8.3 CR but we were only able to pull just over 8 lbs with the issued pulley setup. Dustin was close on his estimate but the motor wants more for sure. Dynoing using the conservative Merc std J1349, we were able to pull out 1014hp at 6300rpm fully dressed at that boost level. Alex hunted for another pulley but to no avail so we can only speculate what the hp would be with 10.5 lbs and the general standard used. The Holley software is so nice, it self tunes within milliseconds and to watch it hit the desired AF numbers as fast as you can pull her up is pretty amazing. Between that and a Madera cam Alex could load it down to 600rpm and still maintain an easy idle. I’m very happy with my build as I think it’s fairly conservative setup that can be turned up when desired (after I drive the boat we’ll see :helmet:). A special thanks to Alex to putting up with me for the day. He's a class act for sure! Now on to the drive build and boat stuff (Gauges, wheel, etc…)… Hurry up Spring! Dave I’ve attached some pics of before and afters… |

Sweet.
Haxby seems like a great shop. Love the guys posts. Whats the drive you are running? Uncle Dave |
Very nice!
That's gunna run great! Just food for thought... Its going to require more work and more money but the 2750 works GREAT with a standoff box. |
Hey Jr.,
Thanks for the info. This hull was totally reworked by Brent Leach (of Eliminator) in 2006 and from the data I have gathered from the testing and testers (I can't personally testify to this fact yet) this hull needs no assistance in the handling department. I'll confirm in the Spring :) Don't want to spend the big bucks unless necessary... UD, not enough drive  I'm going to build up the existing XZ upper with XR gears and good lash numbers coupled to the IMCO -2 lower. A very light hand will be in order. (the altitude helps out a bit as well :)) The stock XZ upper lived for 120+ hours with a 500EFI, AFR325 heads, and a 3.3L Whipple running in the mid 90's. Hopefully I'm that fortunate. Thanks, Dave |
I'm pretty sure your bottom was worked on by ECM. Maybe Brent did the work there or maybe it is a different boat. But I'm almost 100% positive yours is the one that ECM did. There's only one 2750 that I know of that has the modified bottom that wasn't done at Lavey... The bottom is nearly identical to how the bottom is on the 2750's after Lavey changed it.
Lavey has built a few 2750's with a standoff box and the new bottom. It works better than without a box. But if your boat handles perfect without it and you're happy with it then there's no need to change it and spend the extra money. Can't wait to see some numbers! |
Hey Dave, it was great meeting you and the whole fam. It was awesome seeing your daughter dive right in and start turning wrenches too. You did a really excellent job on the build and entire assembly. There wasn't a single glitch or issue with anything, which sure makes the dyno session go smoother. I even jokingly asked if you remembered to drill the holes through your valve covers for the breathers. :D After two or three back to back pulls there wasn't even a hint of vapor coming out.
It fired right up and once we got the baseline dialed it just kept making more power on every pull. I think there's still another 20#'s torque and 20hp left in this tune up if we'd had a bit more time but the nice thing is you can easily tweak it in the boat thanks to the Holley EFI. I loved the way it fired up, literally a half a rotation and it barked to life every time, good solid idle too - (like all of Bob's EFI cams do) :drink: Again, excellent job and I'm glad I could help bring your project to life. :ernaehrung004: |
Thanks Alex!
Jr, yes the work was done by Brent through ECM. I've been told by all the above that the boat ran mid 90's very stable with "no" tab input whatsoever. Again, I can't confirm this until I get behind the wheel. It is interesting though... Thanks, Dave |
Dave,
I can't wait to see the thing run, hopefully II can con you into giving me a ride. The motor looks sweet. I wish that was in my boat. |

Wow Dave, this is looking incredible! Nice work once again! It might not be a good idea for me to ride in it though. Not sure my wife could handle another boat motor project lol.
|
Dave,
It looks like your boat is coming along nicely. I spoke with the previous owner (Tom?) on a couple occasions about blueprinting the hull like that one is. He said he had some great success so I'm sure you're going to end up with a very nice/fast boat. Keep us updated! -Tom |
Not envious, JEALOUS!!!

Hey Dave congrats on the #s , thats impressive. The motor looks great and clean install.Does the oil cooler have PS in it?
I assume ya got bravo style drive, that TQ down that low  besafe Rob |
So close, Yet so far
Well, the engine is in, interior redesign is done, drive is done, sounds awesome HOWEVER , it got the best of me.
Going in for a lower back fusion :Whatever: No test run for at least 10 weeks... SUCKS!!! |
Good luck with that, I've had 5 back surgeries, best advice, as awesome as your boat is, DON'T jump the gun and get in it too early. I found that standing up is the only way I can ride nowadays, unless it's like glass. Keep you legs bent and let them absorb the shock. Again good luck and a speedy recovery!
