Generally it will take 700hp to get a Scepter to fly at 90mph, given conditions/load. The later model Scepters with double steps are more efficient than the single step versions.
The magic deckboats take more to get there. By way of example, generally about 900hp to get to triple digits, given conditions/load. Hope that helps. |

Bret,
How's urs run with the Ilmor? Motor is going in as I post. Then I have to wait until water turns liquid again.LOL. I am hoping to have it ready in April to prop test. |

My buddy John at Eastside Offshore and I built a 1310 hp monster motor for a 2010 twin step MCOB 28 Scepter...It did a best of 133mph with a SCX drive...Spinning a 34 pitch bravo through 1.34 gears at 6200 rpm.
Handles great! But having no winshield...and having very short free-board...it was like sitting at a computer desk at 130+ mph....kinda windy. The owner now runs a 28 Maximus prop...which accelerates like a bat outa hell...and still does over 115. Chris |

Chris[/QUOTE] Very, very True!!!! Has anyone tried those movable wind deflectors? I meant to ask some of the Magic owners when I was at Desert Storm, but didnt get a chance to. At speeds over 90mph, the sunglasses just dont seem to cut it. |
