Default What Year Was The Magnum 27 Introduced??

When was this boat first designed/raced? What was the first year it was sold as a production model? Was this Don Aronow's first offshore design? (I know he made the smaller Donzis earlier) Is this the boat that has been the most copied ("splashed") of all time in 24 & 27 foot lengths? Did it come with a 7' beam? Any pics to post? We all love them pics!! THANKS for all the help and info.

Sean,

1969 is the ealiest 27' I've ever seen, a friend owns one. And another 1976 27'. The 1969 is really thin (light) compared to the 1976.

Brownie should be able to give you some good history.

The 27' Magnum was the first boat that Don constructed on his own in the year of 1967. The construction of the Formula
and the Donzi boats were made by others.

The boat in the picture below was powered by 3x110hp Mercury outboards. The picture is taken during the swedish race
"Getingloppet" in 1967 which Don won. This boat was after this race sold to Tage Boghammar at the Boghammar boat
constructing yard i Sweden.

Yeah, of course. For example the Formula 276 was constructed by Peter Durke. The Formula 233 was constructed by Jim Wynne and Waltman "Walt" Walters. I think both the 28' Donzi and the 35' Maltese Magnum also was constructed by Jim Wynne. However the 27' Maltese Magnum was the first boat Don constructed on his own.
