What engine is in that black beast?

Thanks

thanks Mange, glad you like it, the I.T.S. transom is a bit pricey, but when you add up a standoff box, dual ram steering, and a transom assembly, the price is pretty competitive. Plus the Gimbel ring in it is supposed to be the strongest Mercury has ever made for a Bravo. I then built an XZ drive with an XR long shaft for the I.T.S. and power is a 540 big block. Good luck with your project and if I can answer any questions just let me know. It took me three years to get it to this level, and I started with a hull and NO DECK on it. Magnum had me a brand new 2003 Starfire deck that I put on it and then I gel coated it solid black then went from there.

Magnum27, thanks for that info. The I.T.S is about 10K right?
What do you speed you have on the 27 Magnum?
Thats cool that you had a brand new starfire deck from Magnum Marine. So they still building the starfire if somebody
order one?
Heres a shoot of a 28 Arrow (splash from Don's race boat from -67) Mine is HD-raceorange

Actually the I.T.S. is less than 7K, not including the helm. We can hit mid 70's but that is with no setup, the boat has only been out on the water since complete about four times before this past week's race. I am sure with a bit of tweaking we can squeeze out much more speed. That Arrow is a real nice looking boat by the way!!

Mag 27,
Your boat came out great! How did you do at the race?
Mange,
Where can we get info on the Arrow 27? Is there a website?

[QUOTE=Robert Geoghegan]Mag 27,

Thanks Robert, well Friday in the Kilo's we did well being only less than a mile an hour from the leader, Saturday we ran the lap runs around the track and on our first run posted a respectable time but on our second run we wound up blowing the engine. It seems the engine leaned out and popped a piston. Not to much damage though, it isn't trashed, just will need to be taken apart and a few parts replaced. Hope to build a duplicate engine as well for a backup. But unfortunately we were not able to run in Sunday's race. But however I did get recruited to be the throttle man for the SVL Hometown Morgage boat and man what an experience that was!! Being in that canopy at 94 miles an hour was incredible. I also did the Kilo's in it on Thursday two. Bob Mazikowski's Phantom really liked my 140 pound weight in the throttle seat, it made that boat perfectly balanced. So much that he asked me to run with him on Sunday since I was free from running my boat. All in all it was one great weekend even though I blew my engine. We will be ready for next spring that is for sure, I am hooked

Magnum 27,Your boat looks great.I know how much time and work you had to put in it.The last time i seen it,it was on a tow rope behind Vixen in Lauderdale in 2001 after the opra race,if i remember right.When George an i were compairing boats in St Cloud that year he said he wieghd in ai 6200#.Did the boat lighten up any after the new deck an trns assembly.I know the boat could take rough water a lot better then Vixen,but was not as fast.Best of luck on 2006,an will be looking to see you out thier.

Thanks Mel, it took a long time but it is together, unfortunate the engine blew during the Chat. race so it is being rebuilt now. I have not had a chance to weigh her yet but we have a little more hp in her than what George had so the speed is there. Smoothing out the bottom I am sure helped as well. I think it is going to be a real contender in P-5 next year. We had just finished her and threw the prop on and went racing with less than two hours run time on her and still did very well. I can't wait for you to see her, you would never know it was that old boat. How is Vixen doing these days by the way. Talk to you soon!
P.S. I still have a picture of Vixen framed in my house :)
