Default Magnum or Pantera

How does the 27magnum compare to 28 Pantera in ride, construction, and cabin and cockpit room? I used to have a 99 Pantera and have been looking for and older one but haven't found one did find an older 27 magnum and was wondering about them.

Magnum's really don't have cabins, the ride is about the same, Magnum's have a lower profile in the water. Magnum's are built like tanks though.

like magnum27 said, the magnum is a tank... i was skeptical with such a low freeboard but ive never been in a better riding boat that size, it sticks right in the water in any size waves/chop and its not a "scary' ride either.
The pantera has more cabin for sure, the mag has basically a queen size bed and lilttle head room, ive slept 4 in the cabin once.
i like the lines on the pantera, i dont know alot about the construction though.
im partial to the magnum for obvious reasons bottom line, if you want a great riding boat that turns alot of heads get the magnum... if you're looking to entertain and probably be a bit more comfortable with a nicer cabin pantera would be a great opiton...
you should look at the 28 apaches..... pretty sweet too

HUH??? what boat are you talking about?
Pantera does not have a built in swim platform (nor a beak).
It is a true 28ft at the centerline. Infact, the pantera hull is based on the 27mag hull.

Sorry, the Pantera will turn heads too... but that's your opinion.

There is no such thing as 27 or 29 apache.

Don't get me wrong, I really love the 27mags and the 28maltese. And by posting this in the mag forum you'll get biased replies. Your opinions can be whatever you want, but try to have the facts correct.

Isn't a 28 Pantera a splash of the 28 Maltese Magnum-but a differnt deck?

I always thought that the Pantera was a knock off of the Magnum hull also.
I like Panteras also, but like the lines of the Magnum Sport Better.
Just my thoughts

Thank you
Jim

Think there is really only a few inches difference between the Sport and the Maltese hull lenght, if that If I remember correctly from the Magnum Information sheets from years ago.
Thanks
Jim

Must be a different Pantera as the ones we are referring to, the Pantera's built out of Miami have never had a built in swim platform and were always true 28 footers.

The 27 and 28 maltese are basically the same hull.
The 28 has a more of a raised deck, giving it more freeboard.
You can see in a 28maltese how low it is in the rear... i'll try to post a pic.

Also the Pantera will have more freeboard than a 27 sport.
I think the old powderkeg in the classifieds is gorgous, as is the updated 27, but they are both very different than either a single or twin 28 pantera.

I think all this is a moot point w/o knowing BB's budget.
Cuz you're not gonna find a 28 pantera in the 20-30k range.
