Miami - Nassau

My family is doing a 10 day vacation in the Bahamas next winter, . . as I'm not a sit on the beach kind of guy . . I'm considering trailering the Magnum to FL for the winter and going over to Nassau by boat . . .we'll be staying at the Atlantis . . . which has a marina, crazy expensive at $4.00/ft 40' minimum . . $160.00 per night . . . but you only live once . .

some thoughts on this . . . .from those of you who have BTDT . . ..

I did that crossing once 25 years ago in my friends sport. I would certainly want someone on board with experience, but I imagine with gps and everything today its much less risky. I think Ft Lauderdale is a shorter run than Miami but not sure. Nassau is fun but again I would want someone on board with local water knowlege. Could really be a blast with all the right conditions. I was also just at Atlantis with the family, that basin is ultra high end, they will certainly crush you on the docking fees.

Mario, Did you ever fabricate the new V windshield?......I will be undertaking such a project soon.........Wish I could add some advice, sounds like a memorable adventure in store.

Scippy,

Windsheild is scheduled for this weekend, we're supposed to have 75+ degrees, so I can uncover the boat . . cutting a cardboard template from dimensions established from autocad.
I want to make the front two sides from one piece, heated and bent in the center . . .

so it's nice and strong when I stuff it on the way to Nassau . .NOT!

Mario, I would be interested in such a windshield myself. I remember you researching the proto-type to be of the 24' vee banana.....do let me know if there's enough material for two, I would fund such a project.
Please e-mail [email protected] Good luck this weekend and sorry to be-labor this to no end.....Scippy

Mark, How common or rare are thev "Vee" 27 sports? I typically see far more straight windscreens, but not sure. nice example of the low "wind in your face" profile shown.
