I picked up a early 70's 27 sedan last month in Pa. & am planning to restore as a resto-mod with modern Mercury Smartcraft -fly by wire motors & drives, modern retro gauges, LED lighting, etc..
It was originally done in purple but someone had it painted yellow & painted the name "The Viking" on the side. It looks as it had another name when it was purple that is lightly bleeding through the yellow in places. It also looks as if it had been repowered from the original Volvo's & it seem from the fuel filters mounts, wiring, & Merc-cathode remnants that the last set of motors (removed prior) were Mercury's.
I am looking for pictures of the rear bench seat & sun pad as they were removed & any history of the boat.

Thanks for pic's
I have the helm seats with arms rather than the dropout bolsters. I have sourced all new hardware for those. i'm still not warming up to the stripe interiors these boat carried when they were young.
I think making the bench seat frame out of extruded 0.50" x 2.0" flat Aluminum bar stock with a radiused edges would be better than tubing.
I'll post pictures after i research how to attach pic's.

I still like the classic look.

With all the sewing hours per stripe I would guess so.
If you are using the buckets in your Red & white pic. let me know I have 4-6 of those plastic shells that were miss ordered for another project. If you are going with new foam make sure it is anti fungal. They put it in before the master foam buns are produced. Also make sure they use an expanded vinyl not the cheap fuzzy backed stuff.

Hi again, we just finished wet sanding the whole boat with 1000.
I have to replace 1 of the fuel tanks & am trying to locate a source where I can get a D & M sight gauge. Can't find any info on them on internet??
Any quick guide on posting pics would also be of assistance.

I just pulled the rear benchseat from my sport..(needed the room because I'm lowering the floor & cutting the stringers down in the cockpit) found alot of rot in the lower section of the bench seat (balsa core was definately not sealed) more work on top of all the other stuff.......but I enjoy it!!
