Hmmmmmm......mine also is a '76 and hull # 341.....curious to know what hull # MM's is?........Also curious to know how the 27' hull performs with single big power pushing it as opposed to moderate twins say 350 - 400 hp SB's?
I've been told "sacrilege" to think of anything other than twins in a 27' sport..................just wondering how different power applications (and or weight) would affects the 27' hull's performance characteristics.

Bike's right mirror seems an "hole for bow thruster"....

Pete I helped on the conversion [of this single 482cu & speed III drive APBA class II Factory built Mag [BROAD JUMPER] to twin 402cu [350 + hp] big block & Volvo E drives. Broad Jumper # 288 & the # 88 Zonker Mag were two Mag's that came to Lake St Clair around 1974 that raced in APBA class II. My friend had a tight budget with Magnum Force & it ran great with these low buck engines running around 70mph. Mel with Vixen is a conversion from twin engines to a modern single big block & Bravo Merc drive running 80+ mph. The Grumpy Old Men Mag also was a twin to single Starfire Mag it also ran 80+. These set ups are great for racing but I still like twins small blocks for every day cruising.
You can read about Mel's restoration here on OSO. Mark

Mark........Thanks for the wonderful read!......you know I haven't rigged my sport with power yet and looking at Vixen's single sitting so much lower in the engine bay (the thru exhaust must be atleast 4" lower at the rub rail)
no doubt more room less mechanical pinching, but (like you said earlier) there are trade offs ..............Vixen got to 80 with a single 540 and a B1..........what HP was he putting out?

Jeff told me that Mel never dynode the engine so Hp ???? One more thing about two nice smallblocks I can turn my Mag around in a 35' wide canal.

The 27' Magnum which used to be called "Grumpy Old Men" and "Goumada" has been sold, and will be racing in OPA class 5 in 2015.

Hey Bob..........Glad it will continue racing and not retirement. If you know, what are the details concerning any new rigging choices for the OPA class in '15.....Happy Thanksgiving!

Scippy (Pete),
The boat will be rigged with single 540 cubic inch BBC, not sure about the HP, but I'm guessing 625-assuming it is coming out of his other boat.
How is your boat coming along? You'll have to update rebuild on line.
Bob
