We have broken the classes down for the Don Aronow Around Long Island Race.
Class D has boats from 18 feet to 30 feet and allows either singles Division I or twin engines Division II.
It is a perfect class for the 27 Magnums and 28 SS Cigarettes, especially since so many have converted over to single engine power.
The race will be run next August 22 - 23 weekend. On Friday night, August 21 there will be an awards ceremony for past winners of this race and many of the great names will be invited. Odell Lewis, Fred Kiekhaefer, Brownie, Bob Saccenti, Sam James........etc etc.
The race date is Saturday August 22 nd with the following day, Sunday August 23rd as a rain date.
The race starts off Port Washington NY and proceeds East on Long Island Sound. Then around Montauk and back heading West along the beaches to the Statue of Libery and the East River and back to Port Washington......271 miles total distance.
More details in the General Boating section here on OSO.

If anyone has a 27 Magnum that you are looking to sell, please post on the thread in General Discussion.
We are asking any interested parties to look in the OSO Classifieds first for boats to race, but if any Magnum owners have a project they can't finish, this may be a place to move your boat and watch it race.
Originally, Mercury would just buy the bare hull only from the boat companies, like Magnum or MEMCO and then the drivers would rig the boats and build lightweight wooden decks at Lake X. These are the photos that are in the archives at HORBA.
We have a 27 Magnum hull at HORBA that is available to anyone who wants to build a race boat.
