Default Offshore in a 27?

Hi, I know absolutely nothing about Magnums (don't hate me). Have an uncle that has a 27. Could be an absolute stupid question but could these be taken offshore? Meaning multiple miles off of Miami? Possibly to Bimini? Just by the looks no, but things can be deceiving and my uncle acts like these can do no wrong. Figure I would ask a few experts. Thanks guys for your help and time

It's doable, but I'd never try it without twins. Make sure to get a solid weather forecast too, for the day you're running over and a few days out from that in case you get stuck there.

In the '80s I did that run many times in my '84 272LS. Solo boat, dead reckoning navigation, it did have twin sbc's and fuel was short upon arrival.

I take my 22' Donzi on the Great Lakes all the time. 160 mile round trip day runs to Put-in-Bay are common. I also have a hand held VHF, cell phone, GPS, hand held GPS, compass and paper charts and towing insurance through BoatU.S.

You can make the trip in just about anything, heck Cubans travel twice as far in man-made rafts. Be smart about it, check the weather, have a radio, leave a float-plan with someone, know where you can get fuel over there and how much the docking fees are (call ahead). Wouldn't hurt to have a good tow plan as well. Best of luck!
