Deck Insert wood type
Looking at replacing my deck insert and trying to find what type of wood was originally used. I've seem some on the dark side and some kind of on the light side. I know after 40 years they are probably not the stock finish. I'm looking at Ribbon Stripe Sapele, but wondered what was stock from the factory.
Thanks in advance, Einar |

Thanks H2O,
I've read some but not this one. Do you agree that it was something similar Formica, like on my dash? The older magnums I have seen looked like wood, but have not been up close to them. I figured if anyone would know, it would be you. Einar |
Yes it is like Formica with the wood look with a clear finish Aaron & Jeff both redid there inserts on there sports, they could give you more info or look up there deck insert post here on OSO.

Thanks H2O, I appreciate the help.

My sport had the wood look but my insert was painted some time ago so when I did the rebuild I just painted mine again like many sports have.

Early boats had wood...probably mahogany and were later replaced with a Formica-like product. I used Ribbon Mahogany from World Panel Products I think? They're in Ohio? 1/4 inch think and you need a 10 foot piece.

That is what I was thinking 24 Degrees. Do you have any pics of your insert?
