Default fuel tank question

So I bought the bastard red headed stepchild Lancer I was looking at. I was checking out the condition of the tank and its one tank under the cockpit. I was looking at a real mag today and it has a spit rank that starts on the forward side of the dash bulkhead.

Is there an advantage/disadvantage to either location? or does it come down to weight distribution on a single vs twins??

I am finally starting my 27 sport resto . The tanks as scippy demonstrated are in fact forward of the dash bulkhead Scippy I have my motors on the stand ready for tear down , just rebuilding my 2 trannies as I type this , next refurbish and paint gimbals and TRS drives . Drives are in great shape just need paint. In the spring replace transom and do Fiberglass work . The plan is to have it wet 2022. Here goes nothing . Rick G .

Most all 27' Magnum sports came with forward twin around 50 gallons each. If they raced they would also have two extra aft tanks under the floor that were around 25+ gallons each to give them the range to race 100 + mile races. The Klem Gems 27' all had mid tanks under the cockpit floor as they had a cabin that had a walk way & two bunks. I believe the Magnums had better balance even with just the forward tanks. Two of my friends had Klem race boats with the aft tanks & the rode heavy in the stern they raced Ok but for pleasure I like the Magnum set up.

Were the Klems twins or single? I did get the boat, Dave and I dragged it home last weekend.

Klem built more single 27' Hull than twins but many of the twins were race boats that had to be rebuilt right if you wanted the hull to last. This one was Klem's cover boat that later was rebuilt with wallmanized 4x4 as stringers. This Klem pictured here in the last pic was later for sale in Florida with Magnum decals, the guy who bought it thinks it's a real magnum.
