Not even a big Apache is running this stuff lol. It starts rough but the waves have not caught up to winds yet.....Watch until at least 1:05 before walking away. This storm lasted 6 days. The video is time lapsed over those days. This video is one of my favorites.
Keep in mind this ship is almost 600ft long and the bridge is likely 80-100 feet off the water and that camera is likely 500ft from the bow for perspective! The ship was fairly new at the time, lucky it was! The slightest bit of fatigue, poor steel, or engineering error etc would be exposed. You would just pray you don't lose power of having a steering failure. There would be no surviving this.
THE MUSIC!...that's another story. It had meaning to the guy who shot it.

When you think about, what's pretty amazing, are the captains (aside from the Engineering and Shipbuilding aspects). I couldn't imagine being in that position, having to captain the ship, and that sustained adrenaline for long periods of time. You would be so exhausted, but there's no where to go, just keep on moving into the waves. Hello Mother Nature....

Agreed the stress of being there would be something we cannot comprehend from what the true seaman say. Imagine a storm lasting 6 days! Word is the captain stayed in his cabin for the six days and was removed from command at the first port they made. Storm warnings were issued but he did not heed them and headed out to sea vs lose the downtime!. I don't think anyone expected this bad though lol. I have actually wanted to experience something like this and messaged a few people to see if I could possibly get on board ship in one of the worlds roughest areas. No word back yet. I have researched it some and ego aside I just might be biting off more than I can chew according to the experts lol....I should watch what I wish for as my mother always says.
