Default Anyone from the Kerr Lake area?

I have a possible consulting gig in Southern VA and was told that Kerr Lake was close to the job site. Whats it like there? Weather, how long is the boating season, real estate prices, rentals, cost of living, things to do etc.

Can someone tell me about Kerr Lake and what the go-fast situation is like etc. I would like to learn as much as I could because the work gig would be a 5 year contract and I might fly in weekly or possibly consider a 2nd home and commute a couple of times a month.

Thanks guys.

Shawn aka Ca$hed Out here on OSO has a place there. He can probably give you some guidance. He ran a 32SS Sunsation there before he sold it.

Cignificant here on OSO also goes there a few times a year.

Its a nice body of water from what he tells me; I've never been. It is pretty under-developed; as in not many places to go.

Check out www.smlPba.com and www.smlba.com

Smith Mountain Lake, VA is in SW VA, and is absolutely beautiful. Its a bit further. You can map to Moneta, VA which basically the main town on the lake.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the web sites. Other sites I found on the net showed pretty much as you described. Noticed a lot of toons and blowboats, but sometimes a quite undeveloped place is nice.

Kerr is nice but very undeveloped, and in the middle of nowhere. You can come either east to VA BEACH or west to SML, plent of fun at either end.

Yeah, Kerr is middle of nowhere. Wouldn't want to live there, but the lake is gorgeous. Cove upon cove upon cove to get lost in. Most of it is uninhabited except by wildlife.

I haven't been there in a couple of years, I'm sure it hasn't changed.
Very unique place. Nice to visit.
Just be sure to bring plenty of gas and a gps.

Kerr Lake or as some call it Bugs Island, dumps into Lake Gaston witch is heavily developed but I don't see many
boaters on this site from there. Warren Miller that Races the Joker Boat lives on Kerr lake and I test their sometimes when
looking for water with no current.
