I am planning on doing this run, seems like a blast. Never been boating on the Patuxent though. Where is a good place to launch,? I was thinking under the rt.4 bridge.

seltzer 08-31-2009 08:33 PM

Randy (Beak Boater) called me today and told me about this run. Ive never run the Patuxent, sounds like a good time.

Beak Boater 09-01-2009 06:08 AM

That's the best place right under the solomons bridge

If u put in at the solomons bridge and return there it's about 50 miles total

Jpzaluski 09-01-2009 02:50 PM

Anyone thats not in a huge hurry wanna take a boat under their wing? I've never put in or run this river but would like to run this poker run. Just looking for someone to help me as I have no idea where I'm headed, etc.

Beak Boater 09-01-2009 03:55 PM

Dont worry their will be alot of people to follow and help tie up at the stops. Put in at the Rt 4 bridge boat ramp on the Calvert Co. side, and you will probably see alot of boats doing the same for the fun run. Just follow them to the Tiki Bar. From their you just have a good time. Sorry I wont be able to make this one. Have a wedding to go to in Myrtle Beach.

My Addiction 09-01-2009 04:05 PM

the best way to learn a river is running it with 35+ boats

50 miles is not bad at all

I joined, but do you have to be a member to run?

cello 09-01-2009 06:45 PM

dreamboater---is that you wayne.
This is Marcelo (Pat's Crew chief Thunderstruck)

Long time no see. Hope to see you at the poker run.

cello 09-01-2009 06:57 PM

For all you attending for the first time, the best place to launch will be under the Solomons Island bridge. Great ramps, plenty of water, plenty of parking, only cost $5.00 or $10.00 to launch. It's less than 5 minutes to the Tiki Bar for registration..
Like dreamboater said, the total run roun trip is about 50 miles long. We have 4 stops. Last stop is at Vera's Beach Club (What a party).
We had over 40 boats join us for our spring poker run and want to have more boat attending this one.
2 hands paid out $1300.00 each to the winner.
This is put together by a "non profit organisation" "Maryland Powerboat Club" and all the entry fees and proceeds go back out to the boaters.
Please join our club (membership is free) and join us for a great fall poker run.

My addiction---
Anyone can run this poker run. We are all here for the same common interest = boat, have fun, etc.
Membership is free, so why not join. This is one of the fastest growing powerboat clubs.

How long does the party at Veras last, how far is that back to the ramp under the bridge, and how late is the ramp open.
Is there a group rate at Holiday Inn?

Ive also never run the river and was planning on following Randy. But since he's getting married that weekend i guess i could drag an anchor and follow Wayne.

Man.....you ask alot of questions for someone who isnt even going to show up. This is like the 4th time I asked you to do a run on the Patuxent, and you never show up. Since we wont be their this time, you may show. Dont worry though, Charlie will be their and so will Wayne, and probably a couple of Fountains with 700's you will have some company.

topgun 38 09-02-2009 08:29 AM

Randy what questions do you think John was asking when he saw the waves heading out of jacksonville mayport inlet that was some fun stuff there.

Beak Boater 09-02-2009 09:10 AM

Hey Jeff, how was Destin? He was probably asking himself why he ever listened to Randy, who told him this poker run was a good time, just like running on the Potomac river. Except for the 8' waves at the mouth of the Mayport inlet.

livewire 1 09-02-2009 02:19 PM

This is a good time. We are now in our 5th year. Its grown from 16 boats the first year to as many as 47 boats . Hope to see you there. Any questions you can contact us through the web site www.marylandpowerboatclub.com

cello 09-04-2009 05:57 PM
