Hey All,
New to the Potomac river and looking for some guidance on obstacles north of 301 to Georgetown. I have charts for the area but they haven't been updated in quite a while.
I searched but didn't find a thread around this.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Anthony

If you are running during the day just follow the channel and no worries, it is usually fine. The river carries a fair amount of commercial traffic so it is easy for a pleasure boater. There have been incidents where people have hit unlit barges at night, but once again, unlikely in the channel.

Not much to watch out for as far as unseen obstacles. Few shallow spots but for the most part all runable. Following the channel markers makes for a safer trip. At night, even if you have GPS you need to slow down and keep a sharp eye out especially around the Occoquan area.
