Hello! I will be buying a used 2001 Baja 272 up near Culpepper VA looking for a recommendation on a mechanic / reputable shop where I could get the boat looked over before I buy it. Compression test / leak down test/ out drive inspection ETC.

you can try calling Mark House at Outlaw Motorsports in Culpeper to see if he might be interested in looking at it. He's a friend and also a racer. If not him maybe he can recommend someone.
