Default Smith Mountain Lake

Didn't see any other threads about the lake so figured I'd start this one...

For those that have never been you're missing out on a real gem.

We're heading out for the weekend tomorrow, if anyone is out on the lake and see's us please say hi. We'll be in the all white 32 Spectre w/ outboards.

Pic's to follow when we get back.

I'd like to check it out one of these days. Not going to happen this season. Where is a good place to stay that has hotel, restaurants, ramp, parking, etc.?

We have run a poker run last 2 years in a row. Beautiful lake.
The facility that the run uses is Mariners Landing, slips, fully furnished condo's, and a boat ramp at the facility.

LOVE that place. It's like the Lake Tahoe of the East.
80-200 feet deep as soon as you get 100 feet off the shore; in most places.
Lots of rivers and coves to explore.
Plenty of marinas and (really good) places to eat.
It's so clean, it's like swimming in Evian.

www.marinerslanding.com #1 favorite place to stay.
www.bernardslanding.com / www.bernardsrealty.com #2 favorite place to stay.

How are they on noise ? Three engines make a little bit of noise. Would like to take a ride up that way some time. Any speed restrictions ?

no restrictions on speed, but they will right you up for reckless operation if you do it to close to other boaters, and DON'T spray the Va Dare (large paddle/river boat) you will definitely get a ticket! :

Absolutely love the lake! We have a place close to Mariners on Craddock Creek. Was planning on going down today for the weekend, but the weather forecast due to Irene looks like mostly rain. We plan to be down next weekend for Labor Day. If you see a Sunsation 32/single wave us down.
