Looking for information on lake norman. my job looks like its going to be moving me from pittsburgh down to charlotte area, so i'm looking to capitalize on the opportunity to possibly pickup a lake house (and extend boating season from pa summers to nc summers). i would really love to pick up a house that is lakefront for a reasonable price. is "reasonable" a valid request for waterfront? does anybody know of an area that is more reasonably priced than others? it seems that pricing is generally cheaper on the west side than east side. any suggestions? i've looked at a few houses in the mooresville on down to cornelius areas, but seems like they are pretty classy areas (remember i'm a hillbilly from pittsburgh...haha). i've also looked at a few on the other side around denver. that side of the lake seems a bit cheaper from what i've seen...valid?
also whats the raft up life like? is there known raft up spots for people (islands, shallows, etc)? is there any troubles for noise, speeds, etc?
thanks in advance for the info. i'm actually slightly excited about making a move, as i'm usually one to resist change.

Lake Norman area is awesome. You can pick up a SMALL waterfront house starting right around 400K. There are a ton of foreclosure deals out there if you can spend a little more. No speed limit or noise restrictions . Huge raft up every weekend. Jeff Wurl
