Moving to Glen Burnie for a month or so.

I got transferred for a bit and will be working at JBA chevrolet for a while. Everyone from Ohio is giving me horror stories about Maryland. I know the boating crew are always fun people to hang with so I was wondering what and where to go for my down time? Any help would be great! Thanks!

Redhook98 04-22-2012 01:37 PM

Lol! Wait a minute here..... People from OHIO (MF'ing fly-over state!!!) are giving you horror stories about Maryland?! I would think this should be the other way around! Just don't plan on having a concealed weapon in MD, and you may pay a little more in boating related taxes.... Otherwise enjoy the Chesapeake!

bobonthis 04-22-2012 01:46 PM

We def have our bad spots here..but I at least know where they are at..lol. People are telling me they are kind a little bit of everywhere around baltimore. I will be staying downtown balitmore at avalon towers. I am guessing even with a ccw I cannot have it there? That sucks.

Fenderjack 04-22-2012 01:56 PM

Check out the cats eye pub( great blues style music) DT, rip tide crab house. Get you a great meal at nicks fish house. You going to be working on Ritchie Hwy?

John jr

bobonthis 04-22-2012 02:08 PM

I will do. Yes Richie Hwy.

offshoredrillin 04-22-2012 02:27 PM

I do the cars for jba infiniti. ritchie hwy takes you up into brooklyn park. cool strip club fantasies, let me know when you get here Matt, I'll help ya out. The Aiellos are good people.

EightSecv6 04-22-2012 02:48 PM

25 Minutes from Kent Narrows area, it doesnt get any better...

bobonthis 04-22-2012 02:49 PM

I forgot all about you living there Rob! I will definately get with you once my feet are on the ground. PM me your number and I will try to get in touch with you this week. Im going to be there tuesday.

sleev-les 04-22-2012 03:31 PM

Everywhere has its bad spots.. I keep my boat in Glen Burnie, but drop down in Arnold where I live.. Magothy River is my hang out spot. Stay away from Powerplant.. Ghetto... Federal Hill is decent and so is Canton. Depending on what you are looking for.. Bay Cafe used to be pretty cool, but haven't been there in a long time so don't know what its like now.

bobonthis 04-22-2012 03:32 PM

I like nice little water front bars..bands playing..boats docked up..that kind of stuff

sleev-les 04-22-2012 04:25 PM

Then... Bay Cafe... Redeye Dockbar.. Jellyfish Joels.. Then there are a ton of restaurants on the water a little more low key than the bars I just listed. Mikes Crab House... Deep Creek Restaurant.. I could go on, but those are some of my stomping grounds...

bobonthis 04-22-2012 04:36 PM

Sounds great! Well I should be in Tuesday..This will be the first time in a long time I am not boating for Memorial day but would love to be near the water and the atmosphere. Keep me informed if you guys could of where oso people might be hanging. Thanks!

bobonthis 04-22-2012 04:44 PM

BTW: Im not looking for boat rides ..being around them would be good enough for me at this point.

sleev-les 04-22-2012 04:55 PM

If you are staying in Bmore, Bay Cafe is close to you. The other spots are eastern shore or Annapolis area.. Any you can drive to

bobonthis 04-22-2012 05:07 PM

Looks like south baltimore at Avalon Centerpoint Apartments.

littlereggie 572 04-24-2012 07:17 PM

Big Party !!!

bobonthis 04-24-2012 10:28 PM

I will be there then! Sounds like everything I like.

Bikini contests start on Fathers Day I believe.. I've heard Coconut Joes has stepped it up as well..... If I take the boat there, I'm dropping in on the South River somewhere.. Last south river run I did, I ran out of gas lol..... Oooops:whistle:

Ohhh, and Bay Cafe has bikini contests too and its usually the same smuts from Redeye Dockbar lol.. They just aren't every week.

offshoredrillin 04-25-2012 08:30 AM

redeyes for the bikini contest, at least to me is like jersey shore...bunch of meatheads trying to be cool, otherwise it is ok for grabbing a couple drinks. more laid back is the jetty or big owl... coconut joes is ok and pier 7 is right there to put in, but I had a run in with nasty drunk chic throwing rocks at my truck, the local trash can ruin any establishment. Bay cafe is fun, not alot of dock space though. River watch is a blast as is hard yacht.... they can all be fun at any time, best bet is to spread it out. just my opinions though :)

Ditto on all the above. Jetty is way more laid back. I went out at pier 7 last summer, came back about 730 pm and found some drunk from coco joes block my truck and trailer in. Did not get the boat on the trailer untill 1130 pm when the manager of 7 showed up and a gang of tow trucks. What a horrible night!

Dude, it was crazy... the place was kinda new so everyone wanted to hang at the new tiki bar, well they all started parking in the marina, I had a blowout on my trailer and was on 5 tires trying to get out and back up at night, not easy with a 46 ft trailer and a dually, backing blind. Well she got all pissy because i was backing slow and pulled in front of me and parked and got out to go into the club.... I almost hit a HO, i pointed at the sign that said marina parking only and flipped a gasket, she started throwing rocks all the bouncers came over I said call the cops. The bouncers were cool and asked her to leave and later that week I had a talk with the guy who manages the marina and now there is no more rest/tiki bar parking there.

see my story above, Josh the manager of pier 7 is a great guy. he is the only reason i will go there, but if I am heading up bay, I'll put in at sandy point, love the ramps there and they have fuel. if you put in at pier 7, liberty, londontowne and turkey point all have fuel.

THATS IT 04-25-2012 08:29 PM

Glen Burnie is a great place, I grew up there, bought my HD2500 from JBA also grew up with Buddy Price who works at JBA, good guy.
You'll be in one of the best areas, there is so many places to hang and or boat to. Reckless Ric's is also a cool place.
Check out www.cbpba.com
Great boating club, a lot of members are from this area.

As far as Md being a bad place.....maybe a badass place....all good here!
Look us up when you get settled in.

Welcome to Maryland!!!

Yeah it was Josh that showed up. I don't know him personally but have a good buddy of mine that knows him and speaks well of him. He gave me a free pass for the next time but it was still a pain.
Not to get off topic but any suggestions on a place to drop in on the rhode river? So far all I have found is sail boat marinas or hear of places not friendly to open exhaust. I sometimes go to the island in the rhode with my French bulldog and he hates leaving the south river and going in the bay to cross over.

tcwcar 04-25-2012 08:58 PM

Welcome to the Chesapeake....once you get your feet wet you will love it, so many places to go, do, and see. I live in PA. but have had my Christ Craft at Mears point marina for the past 14 years. Kent Narrows is great 30 minites from Baltamore, Redeyes is great, you guys are right though, on sundays you will need to stop at the gym across from Redeye and get "pumped up" before you go in there, there is alot of meat heads, but still fun, Jettys fun, Annies got GREAT steaks, crab deck, Harris crab house, new public boat ramp right there....heck if your looking for a place to hang, all give you my pass to Mears, hang out on the CristCraft maybe wash it down for me, "dont get down to much" go to there huge pool, go to the gym and get "pumped up" and walk over to the Redeyes just in time for the bikini contest on Sunday...

check with Ted G or craig/old school, they both live in Bev beach on the Rhodes and can tell you of a ramp if there is one.

I forgot about reckless rics Joe, there is also nabbs creek which has done some updating as well.

I pick things up and put them down! Go meatheads :thankyouthankyou: j/k

I don't think Redeye is that bad as far at the "meathead" population..... I'm more concerned with some of those girls that compete in the contest... They have a lot of talent, but then some "not so much" lol... Funny thing is, Every year its the same girls... Been that way for 10 years.. Interesting to watch how they "age" :lolhit:

Yup, should just be called a stripper contest.. Been to one bikini contest in MD, you've been to them all. Sunday nights at Bay Cafe used to be majority strippers.. Not sure if it still is... Haven't been up that way in years. Have you been to any of the Bumper Bashes at Dobbins? Theres a couple guys with poles on the bows of their boats that have girls dancin' on them lol...

Check out Backyard Boats in Shadyside. Two steep ramps. I think the launch fee is $20-25. My uncle launches his 35' Formula there, it can be tight, but I dont have any proplems with my 25'. Open exhaust should not be a problem. I know of several LOUD boats that launch there. And they lurk on here too. HI:D

Yep..I used to live in a gym myself..blew my knew out..still need surgery, just havent had time to get it done. I quit going to the gym years ago though when I realized I had a personality and dont need to live in the gym..lol. I do need to get in shape but dont need to live in a gym to do that. I tell my friends who tell me I am gaining weight or getting fat, that they are just jealous because I can afford to eat good. To each thier own though, I just dont like the drama or cockyness that comes with some of these guys who are mad at the world and think because they have muscles they are the sh1t. Plus when it comes down to it, we all know personality will get the girls faster ;)

bobonthis 04-26-2012 11:28 PM

I am staying pretty much across the street from the Orioles stadium but anytime you guys are close..hit me up. Maybe I should track down some of my old OSO shirts to get recognized at the bars.lol

I keep to myself at the gym.. I want to stay far away from the Jersey Shore rejects. There are a lot of them at my gym.. Heads bigger than a hot air balloon...
