Just put boat in at a Marina on the Upper Chesapeake for a few months to try it out, never boated there before. Planning on coming over the C&D to the Delaware and up for the fireworks in Philly on Sat night, then back on Sunday. I've never been through the canal, what should I know/look out for? I was reading there is a speed limit? Any other special rules apply?

Yes there is a speed limit 45mph, no wake at Chesapeake city...

If you have questions about the canal you can contact canal control on VHF ch 13 call for WB 33 and he will answer any questions you have. There is a No wake zone at Chesapeake City. Watch out for the Tug boats and ships in there they will be in the middle of the channel. Happy boating...
