How many of you guys boat in the Potomac? If so where do you put in and hang out?


I personally enter by way of the Aquia Creek and usually head down to Fairview beach.

I usually put in at the Mattawoman creek, or Goose Bay Marina depending on where I am going. I go all over the place. Georgetown, Old Town, National Harbor, Occoquan, Tims I & II, Port Tobacco, Cobb Island, St. Clememnts Is., etc. etc.

Fairview is the best hangout spot IMO but it's a 45 minute run at 60 from my house on the Wicomico. I've been bored at Giligan's the last few times. The drinks are getting watered down and there's too many road-hard biker chicks wearing doo-rags for me. The lower Potomac has a new spot at Cole's point and Colonial beach can be fun as well as Fitzies at Brenton bay.

i put in at leesylvania state park.. hang at fairview beach and belmont bay.

Yeah gilligans wasn't very impressive my last few trips. How is Belmont these days? A lot of people? I didn't go at all this summer

Belmont is OK, Lots of boats. I think the water quality is kinda funky though.

I put in at Leesylvania also. We go all over the place. Occoquan city docks, Belmont. Ric's on the river has the best food buy far. We like the hospitality at Colonial Beach, very nice people. Cobb Island has the best crabs.

I am surprised we havent crossed paths. or maybe we have. i live in manassas also
