Severn River and the bay
Heading for the Severn from Sandy Pt. ramp this weekend for the first time. They're calling for east winds. Wondering what the bay gets like between the Magothy and South Rivers with 5 -10 E or 10+ E winds. Normally we try to hug the leeward side on the southern bay, but that wouldn't be practical on this trip.

If you're in the Boat that's in your signature I wouldn't even bat any eye at any easternly winds.(or any real winds for that matter). It is a 15 minute ride at most from sandy point to the Severn. Rule of thumb is 10+ from the south stay north of the bridge 10+ from the north south of the bridge is alittle calmer. All of my boats are in the sub 30' range and wouldn't give a second thought to run anywhere from north beach to the c+d with an easternly
Wind. Go have fun this weekend and enjoy the holiday!
There are a good bit of crab traps popping back up in the Severn mouth so keeping to the channel would keep your headaches down if you're concerned with them.

We had a great trip. Friday made it up the Magothy and the South R. Saturday was breezy so we spent the day on the Severn where I grew up. Went home Sunday after a nice ride over to Hemingway's and back.
