What'cha think?

How would everybody feel about the Allatoona Gang and the Lanier Gang having a major raft up one Saturday? We could do it on either lake, or meet on a neutral site. Looking for suggestions and comments.
Thanks in advance!
Tom

Alli-Runner 09-17-2002 03:19 PM

Sounds good to me!!!!

Warlock 27 09-17-2002 04:33 PM

raft up

Count us in..I dont care where..I wouldn't mind either- both-would do great......neutral site...Lake Norman..Destin..Martin..

Keep us posted:D

kaamacat 09-18-2002 07:41 AM

I'd like that alot, especially since I've not made it to any trips this year....(King Weenie)......and to be extra selfish, my vote is Lanier (just because I hate to trailer this thing as its almost 10'wide).

I'd suggest Mary Alice park just because of the parking lot size, and its easy to access.

speedbump 09-18-2002 09:17 AM

Pick a date! The calendar is getting way full this fall!

SeaDated 09-18-2002 10:16 AM

I vote Lanier

PokerFace 09-18-2002 10:45 AM

I probably don't get a vote since I don't know how to become an official member....is there someone to contact? If I had a vote....I'd vote Lanier (go figure) Barkley

Warlock 27 09-18-2002 04:43 PM

Poor Poor Barkley

RedWarlock 09-23-2002 09:47 PM

speedbump 09-24-2002 03:58 AM

10/5 is ok by me

Warlock 27 09-24-2002 04:21 AM

It works for us..can we get Seadated's blessings:D

Dreamweaver 09-24-2002 07:34 AM

OK with me!!! :p

SeaDated 09-24-2002 09:11 AM

That sounds fine with me. Where do you all want to meet? With the water level down, I'm thinking Bald Ridge Marina or Vance Tavern would do fine.

RedWarlock 09-24-2002 09:23 AM

Kaamacat, hpron

What do you think about the areas Seadated suggested? And how much is Lanier down? Ron, you've run it the latest of the bunch, what'd you think? Mary Alice, Vance or Bald Ridge?

DW, do you want to let S. Barnyard know that we're gonna be up that weekend?

Alli-Runner 09-24-2002 10:24 AM

Can't anybody make a decision around here! Lets go!!!!!

kaamacat 09-24-2002 11:16 AM

I'm in (for once).

I'd suggest Mary Alice, just because the parking lot is so large you wont have to worry about a spot. As for the Lanier level, it seems to (at a minimum) be about the same as it was about 3weeks ago. Still plenty safe.

In the Mary Alice cove area, just out from the beach which would be to your left from the ramps, out about 200yds is a marked area that is now just below the water. (but very easy to spot).

Bob

speedbump 09-24-2002 11:17 AM

Dang indecisive people....hurry up!

SeaDated 09-24-2002 11:28 AM

Where is Mary Alice and how do you get there??????

Warlock 27 09-24-2002 05:55 PM

Where??

I am going to use the ramp at Big Creek or at Lanier Harbor..

It makes sense to me to use and put in on the side that is closest,we are only about 20 min. away...

We are off the 85/985 side..anyone coming from Altoona side should put in off 400...follow Kaamacat..if he is point ..he has to make it..even if it means he has to row..:D

We can meet ya guys..its only a quick run over there..

The bigger question is where to raft up..cocktail cove.. you better get some bigger bumpers..

speedbump 09-24-2002 06:03 PM

Oh boy...realized I screwed up....might not be able to do 5th until I can switch a yard sale to the 6th.....either that or Chris may need to go without me.....would someone take care of him if I sent my child away without me???????:(

Warlock 27 09-24-2002 06:07 PM

Leave Chris home to do it and you come with the kids..just kidding.we will help if ya need some.......:D :D

DW, do you want to let S. Barnyard know that we're gonna be up that weekend?

Hell Tom..level will be going up if we keep getting the rain..see my suggestion on where we will put in..

kaamacat 09-24-2002 06:48 PM

Unless the trailer has a flat (heck I stick truck the low/6x6 and drag it) I will make it.

Now.....On to Mary Alice.

FROM RT400 NORTH -> Get off at exit14 which is the Cumming exit. (it loops 180degrees around). Go LEFT. About 1/4mile after 2 lights, which is just after the Steak & Shake, another LEFT onto SANDERS RD. Just go straight. You'll stop at Buford Dam RD, keep going thru it. It will dead-end into MaryAlice park RD. Go RIGHT .........take it to the end where the park is. The ramps are immediately after the guard house.

FROM RT20/CANTON -> When Rt20 turns into one-way traffic you are in the middle of town, follow traffic in the RIGHT LANE which goes thru 2/3lights and makes a right (traffic keeps moving, so do you). Just as you pass the Auto store on the right and start to go uphill, a the very peak is MaryAlice Park rd on the LEFT. Take that to the very end. (TURNS WILL BE TIGHT THOUGH)

-or- PLANB (For those with a high deductable)

FROM RT20/CANTON -> When Rt20 turns into one-way traffic you are in the middle of town, follow traffic in the RIGHT LANE which goes thru 2/3lights and makes a right (traffic keeps moving). YOU GO STRAIGHT WHICH TAKES YOU TO RT400 IN 1MILE. GO SOUTH AND GET OFF AT EXIT14. Follow the same directions as RT400 above.

Warlock 27 09-24-2002 06:55 PM

Kaamacat

Bob stay in touch for this weekend..if it was like today..I will be out to put more time on motor

kaamacat 09-24-2002 09:11 PM

hpron. Sure will. Didnt get out tonight to bleed the rams, but doing a 1/2pm tomorrow afternoon to take care of it. I'd like to get out this weekend also.

ONE SIDE COMMENT ON THE LAUNCH RAMPS. Most of the ones (including Mary Alice) have no docks in the water if that is a must. There are some that do have them, I just dont know which ones. (Think I've heard VansTavern up on 369 does, and got to believe that Baldridge is ok also)

Bob

speedbump 09-25-2002 04:13 AM

Thanks Ron! Trying to convince Chris to go without me and kids. I already made a committment to that date so I'm not going to back out.

Docks...I think most folks need a dock to board the person who drives the trailer...

SeaDated 09-25-2002 07:37 AM

Just talked to a freind and Vance Tavern dock IS still in the water. I will probably launch there or at Bald Ridge Marina. I'll know for sure as the water level changes after this rain. Because we will be using different ramps we need to pick a spot and time to meet on the lake. I say 10:30 right in front of the DAM. Surely everyone knows where that is! As far as the tie up location, I know several great spots in all aeras of the lake. I do like cocktail but hpron is right...you need bumper the size of 50 gallon drums. Speedy will be there...her other deal is handled.

Stryker 09-25-2002 08:02 AM

Where's Lanier????

speedbump 09-25-2002 08:37 AM

Yep - moved dates around so Chrissy Baby doesn't have to boat by himself!:D

Stryker...you remember Lanier...it's that big thing with water in it that's up 85 North....you know where BOATS GET PUT IN THE WATER! Come on.....think you could talk that sweatheart gorgeous wife of yours into it?

SeaDated 09-25-2002 08:42 AM

Hey right!! Stryker go boating. That will be the day.

kaamacat 09-25-2002 10:10 AM

In front ot the dam sounds like a great "Mr Obvious" place to start from......... :D

.........and your right on the docks, they are slim pickins on Lanier for sure. Seems like Vans and Baldrige are the two that always have water.

Stryker 09-25-2002 11:09 AM

All I have left is fading memories and a piece of fiberglass in the basement. :(

speedbump 09-25-2002 11:24 AM

You should sit in the driveway with the boat hooked to the hose, crank up some tunes, have a beer and pretend you're at the lake.......you could bounce around and pretend to hit wake waves and everything.....

Stryker 09-25-2002 11:40 AM

If I go to that much trouble, I might as well just find a big pond to play in. So we MAY see ya'll.
