Default SC Lakes

Anyone have any insight on Lake Murray & Lake Hartwell? How are these lakes for boating? Housing market?

Have thoughts of that area also.
Flew into Charlotte a few years ago and enjoyed seeing all the boating out the plane window.
Left freezing rain in Michigan, January, and landed there with 60s and humid.
It was an awesome difference that makes me think of relocating ever since.

Had a place on Hartwell for over 20 years. Love it, plenty of restaurants can boat to. Some good party spots, plenty of places to anchor off and chill. Housing is hot but still affordable. Just make sure to get deep water since its a corp lake and used mainly for power and flood control.

our plan has been to retire (eventually) on Lake Norman, NC. But the housing market has gotten out of control there. It looks like the SC lakes are a bit less congested. We want to retire inland, away from hurricanes and high risk.

Sounds familiar

I have a few years left that I will need to work, but thinking I would like to get away from winter and be at least near the place I would like to end up when retired.
Good luck !!

My parents live in Simpsonville. I love Lake Keowee. Not as large as Hartwell (18.5K acres) but a beautiful lake.

My daughter went to Clemson and we went to many football games. The campus is right on Hartwell. Sometimes there was a flotilla raft-up of boats near the stadium during the games. I assume they were watching the game on TV's and getting the live experience of the stadium noise. I bet that would be fun.... My wife and I always wanted to drag the boat down there, but never could make it work.

Even though I not a Clemson fan, go Dawgs. Yes, it is fun. It's about a 25-mile run up the Seneca river for us. Fun to go watch the pre-game stuff. Then we boat over to Clemson marina. They have a fun open air bar with TVs.
