Are we good to dewinterize

what do you think, i would love to go run this weekend

Screamineagle 03-18-2008 01:59 PM

There were quite a few dewinterized last weekend for the st pats parade on the water. Looking at the next 10 days or so it looks good and by then, I'll be dewinterizing mine! :party-smiley-004:

tblrklakemo 03-18-2008 02:06 PM

Im south of loto and their saying it will get down to 28 this sunday night....next tuesday night going to be in low 30's too. Id wait a bit. Sucks:angry-smiley-038:

I cant imagine further north will be any warmer.

orange26daytona 03-18-2008 02:34 PM

scares me, I have seen it freeze well into April. Even worse when the boat will be 5 hours away!

Knot 4 Me 03-18-2008 03:07 PM

I'd do it. Throw a drop light in the bilge if it drops below freezing for an extended period.

Yeah we used to do this when I lived in Minnesota. We pulled our boat out of storage every year on April 1st. There were a couple nights that dropped into the 20's but with the drop light it stayed well above freezing in the bilge.

trips2win 03-18-2008 07:16 PM

do it i want a ride Saturday :D

Upper Hand 03-18-2008 08:14 PM

I did it last weekend. Have been checking the weather forecast daily. Looks like 33 is the lowest for the next 10 days.

I put a bildge heating in it before covering the boat up. Figured if it gets too cold I can call my neighbor or mechanic up to run over and plug the heater in.

chevyzq8 03-18-2008 08:39 PM

Hoping to dewinterize in a few more weeks. I would just drain the motors out if your worried about a cold streak, the little big of water left in them should be fine for a mild freeze.

omerta one 03-18-2008 11:19 PM

I did it last week...was cruising Friday and Sunday.

Just dialed the cockpit heat up to 60 and away we went. :D

mr.boat 03-18-2008 11:39 PM

the heavy rains have pushed trash and logs in so watch out.
time to change impellers? cheap protection.
lite the lip ship daddyO. Phil would be proud. Go WILD.

New ride is big, very comfortable...if you're down I'll take you out for a cruise. I ordered a couple of bilge heaters; should be here this week...you can borrow one for the Cig if you decide to commission.

I have the Hawks Cay and Boat Show runs on tivo...got some good video on those.

LOTO was horrible last year for trash and dirty water. Worst I've seen it in 10 years. They just got 5 inches of rain so this year is off to another crappy start.

Heard the lake is up 3 feet so far due to the rains.. I also heard there wasnt much crap floating yet. MAybe we will get lucky this year..:(

Randy i would think unless something unusual happens you would be ok the water temps are coming up and that radiates heat off the water. Hope all is well see you soon

Current lake level is 659.5 (660 is normal pool) it was 656.8 when I left Monday a.m.

That fast of a rise will surely bring some debris off the banks and down the rivers although the lake remained fairly full most of the winter. They didn't really start dropping it until the end of Feb.; I hope it dopesn't get too bad but I have my doubts.

GK 03-20-2008 04:55 PM

It's March 20th in Milwaukee and they are predicting 6-10" of snow tonight. I have seen snow storms in April. We don't start boating until late April.

Not yet, have the rack at TNT thru April...thinking about sending her back 4-11 or thereabouts...they drive straight thru (24 hrs) so it's just a matter of how the schedule works out.

Wild 03-24-2008 07:24 PM

going to pull the trigger on Sat at LOTO

We are headed to Mississippi to help Jassman put some hours on his 4300 this weekend in the gulf. I'm officially between boats until late May. Our next planned trip down is the 3rd weekend of April for the spring boat show.

Are you going to be around that weekend?

fountain4play 03-24-2008 10:52 PM

De-winterize??? What's that?? Oh yeah I forgot mine didn't get that treatment this winter, but then again they've just been sitting in the shop nice and toasty.... Hope to get things put together pretty soon, can't wait to get back on the water... This winter was way too long...

Since Mental is between boats and out of town, I may run down and dewinterize his wave runner. Might even put another Honda impression on the front bumper!! :p

My wife made the mistake of b!tching about the weather here last night. Made for a long, cold night after informing her she is the reason we will not be enjoying sunny, 80 degree weather on the Gulf this weekend in a 43' Nor-Tech.

Pretty much. I was told I could go by myself. Yeah, fun being a fifth wheel. "Look at the dude with no chick!" :angry-smiley-038:

Hmm... I could always have my arm twisted and run down there that weekend. I bet I could even get MP to make the run with me. We can "help" with launching the Dominator!! :cool-smiley-027:

You won't miss him. He is so pi$$ed he will be going to LOTO next weekend when you launch. It won't matter if the weather sucks - he just needs to get away now.

And I am sure I will make it easy on him that he is missing the trip this weekend - oh yeah!:evilb:
