Driver inattention may be blamed as a major factor in a two-boat collision that occurred Saturday night.
One person was seriously injured when a 27-foot Fountain and a 29-foot Envision collided near the 10.5-mile marker. The impact of the collision caused the Fountain to go up and over the Envision, throwing the driver and three passengers into the lake. Passing boaters apparently stopped to assist.
The Fountain sank in about 65 feet of water.
According to Captain Matt Walz, charges have not been ruled out but will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
So far, evidence indicates the night-time running lights on both boats were on and excessive speed doesn’t appear to be a factor, he said. The drivers of the Fountain and the Envision told officers they didn’t see the other approaching boat in time to turn.

Saw that. They showed a picture of the Fountain with just the beak sticking out of the water. Knowing both boats, I am surprised the Fountain went up over the Envision. The Envision sits up much higher in the water. Thank God no one was killed.

we were sitting on one of the docks waiting for some people to get ready in order to go out for the night when we heard the boats hit, it sounded like a shotgun going off. Shortly after 3 firetrucks, two ambulances, and a couple of fire chiefs showed up, then life flight landed on the public access ramp and shut its motor off, for sure we thought someone or everyone had died since they didn't immediately run anyone out of there. This is great news to hear everyone is ok!

One of my customers was the driver of the Envision which I now own. (I have pics)
He said he was following behind a cruiser at low speeds. He did not know what happened until after the collision.
Apparently the Fountain went around the cruiser and hit the Envision port side after going over the cruiser wake. The Fountain had to be nose high since the impact is above the rub rail. You can see where the Fountain went over the top of the Envision far enough for the drive to leave a gash in the deck...
