I was in Magic Medicine's 32 Sunny...not my boat. I was sitting in the middle of the bench, we came off the wake at around 60 mph and tripped...I don't know what happened, but I ended up laying on my side and my head was leaking. :drink:

This thread really needs pics of the water, but I guess most are a bit too busy to be snapping 'em when the water is nasty.

This last 4th of July leaving the fireworks at Four Seasons heading back towards the new bridge the waves were large. I was motoring like I was going up hill then when I crested I would back of the stick and surf down. Deffantly had to take my time. May sound kind of crazy but I like it when it like that makes me feel like I'm doing something. Need longer boat. Keytime have to work on Jamie to snap some pic's of the big stuff.

The number of boats in the main channel around the 14MM on the 4th of July is nuts! We stay in a house in the old party cove at the 14MM every July during the 4th so all we have to do is idle out to the channel, watch the show, and idle back. Then we sit on the dock and look at the seemingly never ending stream of red, green, and white lights going by. It has to be one rough dog out there!!

Several years ago my mother who was a bit senile was sitting on our deck watching the fire works at the 28.5 mm and after the show she was looking out at the channel watching the lights go by. She looked at me as asked "Is that a highway?"

First thing I asked for was a towel! Come to think of it...there was no medicinal effect at all provided by the "Magic Medicine!" :drink:

As for pics of that water...I tried taking pics post-2005 Shootout riding in the back of Scarrab30s boat...we were running 75-80 alongside a 36 Apache and when I looked at what I took...I only saw sky!

I'll get on him to do that, Dan. Our place at the 3.5mm gets some rough stuff, but I don't think it's up to the standards set by the scenarios mentioned here. I'll see if I can get some good video next year as well. I have a lipstick camera I use as a helmetcam and have figured on attaching it to the boat, but I'll have to just use pieces of that video, otherwise viewers would likely hurl before long. :crazy:

Here is a pic from Jamie of me on the ski near PC. This was Memorial Day Weekend of '07 when that NASTY storm hit. That rain hurt. The waves were decent, but not what they're capable of being.

Big waves = Big stories. I have seen a lot of big rollers at LOTTO. But I think any thing over 36" from a cruiser is stretch it a bit. I am not sure exactly how you would measure a wave. If it would be from normal water level to the waves highest point or from the waves lowest point under normal water height to the top of the wave creset. I promise you that there have never been waves at LOTTO like there was at this poker run I was in in Sarasota FL in 2005 5ft to 7ft. From what I've read on here, proper wave height is the distance from normal water level to the crest of the wave. With that in mind, I suspect that many people are measuring a wave from the trough to the crest, or double of the previously mentioned method.

From my experience, I would say that the biggest cruiser waves I've jumped on my ski were from 4'-6' from trough to crest. I can "surf" some of them and ride up and down them on the ski, so they're not small. I think that's a realistic guess. But 6' would definitely be the max, IMO. JM$.02.

Since the waves are caused by boats in multiple directions, the washing machine effect makes it quite chaotic, but I can't personally compare it to the ocean. I'd have to think those poker runs down south would get meaner waves, although possibly more predictable. ?????
