need a bigger boat, oppinions please
 

I am new to boating and have a 25 outlaw.Like the boat but just not big enough for LOTO. I like the 33 outlaw, cockpit is like a dance floor. 32 sunsation has ausome looks and in my oppinion one of the best looking interiors.Anyone who has owned, rode, or drove either of these models that has any info on how they ride and handle the rough LOTO water is appreciated.

The 33 Outlaw will ride MUCH better than a 32 Sunsation in the LOTO slop and is 2-3 feet bigger when you include the swim platform. In smoother water with equal power the Sunsation will be faster.

For deals on Baja's, call my friend Brett at www.premierboatingcenter.com He takes great care of his customers and has sold several boats that stay at LOTO. He makes about 10 trips down a year.

There is a 33 w 525s in the classifieds asking like 119,000. If you want a sweet package I think it would fill the bill. I too was looking hard at the 33s but the CIG just said YOU GOT TO HAVE ME!!!

What's your price range? Do you have any size limitations with respect to slip size or storage on land?

I have been in 33 Ol's and Two different 32 Sunny's and The 33 will ride better but the sunny is a much faster/more efficient hull.

Bigger is better!!

The twin-stepped Innovator/SS/SSR 32 Sunsation will be a better hull at LOTO than the older, pad-bottom 32 Dominator hull. Either do reasonably well at LOTO but you will have to really "drive" the boats when it gets sloppy. The 33 Outlaw will have a bunch more cabin and cockpit room (especially between the front bolsters and rear bench) and will be a better overall ride in the LOTO slop. When it really gets rough, even the 33 Outlaw will get beatup down there. I'd have to give the nod to the BAJA.

There may be some 35ZR Donzi's around as well. Not much in the way of a cabin though.

No size limitations but with size comes price and I do have price limitations. From what little experience and knowledge I have you seem to get more boat for the money with a baja. May not be the most top of the line but a decent all around performance boat.Ive seen a few 01 to 03 33's in the 70 to 80's price range with fairly low hours(250 to 300)which will prob be my price range.I def like to go fast but would prefer a turn key 70mph boat with a decent ride as to 80mph and a terrible ride.My likings for the sunsation are stricty based on looks but it seems the baja is more up my alley. Anything else compariable in size,performance and price will be considered when I finaly make the move to a bigger boat.

I put 450 hours on a 32 Sunsation over 5 seasons on LOTO. I never beat the crap out of it, but then again I ran hard and never doubted the structural integrity of the boat in snotty conditions either. And it proved the integrity. After that time and hours there was not one blemish or stess crack on that hull.

With that said, it is a much smaller hull overall than the 33 OL, so there are differences in the comparison.

K4M spent several hundred hours in it with me, so he can attest that the hull stood up to the LOTO conditions.

I think either boat will serve you well on LOTO. And either are a good size for getting around to the restaurants etc.

What the heck are you up to this winter. We were down over the holidays and boated Jan 29 and Jan 30.

For 80k you ought to be able to get a hell of a 33' or even a hell of a 36' outlaw for that matter. When it doubt Sea trial one of each and you will know right away which one fits your needs.

I don't have anything against bajas ( I almost bought a 36' before I found mine) but you might also check out active thunder as well. I looked heavily at them and Sonics before I got my boat because I was looking for a heavy boat that I would be comfortable in while boating with our infant son in all conditions.

31 cigarette bullet will ride alot better than a 33 baja.

I can vouch for this particular Bullet as well!!!!

well mine happens to be for sale. 540s runs 80mph for 45k. you cant compare a baja to a cig. with 500s the boat would run 71 in smooth water & 75 in 4 to 5 footers and the rougher the better.:ernaehrung004:

Your boat looks great and cigarette seems to be the best of the best. The more I learn the more there is to consider. I think Im more into turn key and low maintnance. How dependable are the 500 plus cid. merc. engines. Is it a chore to maintain and keep in tune an older boat with twin carburated engines.Do they still make the 31 bullet?

Its about like any carb motor, pain to get dialed in but once you do its turn key ready to rock n roll. been to ozarks for shootout and 4th, but if you were going on a regular basis with this boat you will need mufflers, cmi headers with dry tails, extremely loud, sounds awesome though.

5050, I was just razzin you. I would much prefer your 31 Bullet over a 33 OL. The Bullet is a wave crusher compared to a 33OL. Of course its heavier and will take more power to achieve the same speeds. IMO, they are just totally different boats with different markets.

SORRY BEEN IN BOTH ON THE OCEAN, the cig 31 is short and a slug, I bet a 35 cig cafe will be faster than the 31. and there will be lots of 38cigs and 35s around which would work fine up there and would take about the same hp as a 36 ol, that 33 hull has been around a long time as the 32 force in the 80s. like I said been in the 31 and two I have know had stress cracks one with stock 454s the other with blower motors in front of the back seat I was shocked a cig with stress cracks :eek:. also the ATs run real nice and a sutphen 33/34/or35 is a nice boat theres one in the sutphen clas/ for 90gs been there for a while so Iam sure they will come down and thats a real custom boat mostly used for racing 26 degree hull more than the above boats and are fast not slugs. a single 31 sutphen will do 85 with one 850hp:ernaehrung004:

There is a 35 cig cafe for sale in the classifides for $83,000 He as done everything to this boat and it is beautiful. He lives here in Central Ill as well if you need to see more photos and stuff. Boat is at the lake. Look at it and give Scott a call you wont be disapointed, I promise.
