Your math is correct.

The single, twin and triple debate has gone on a long time. Pros and cons to both. I'm told it's more efficient, but if you have three motors running 3,200 they will burn more fuel than two at 3,200. Load, boat hull and speed taking out of the equation - which you can't do.

Consider this also, my 47 will get on plane with two motors if you get caught offshore and have a break down how long do you want it to take to get back? In a single your calling for a tow and with twins on one motor.

If the twins are big enough with enough prop you can plane on one. I've done it.

Get the 42. I'm 35 feet and everytime I go out there, I wish for a 38 or a 42 so I can run easier without taking a beating.

It's a no-brainer that you will get a better ride in a 42 as opposed to a 35...but there hasn't been a day I've stayed at the dock while the "big boys" went out to play. I've run in 4-6s on Lake Michigan at 65-70 mph. Depends on your driving ability.

OK,,,,, I hate to be the one to bring it up,,,,

But 35 and 42 same hull style ,,,,or????

My 36 outlaw is 2 inches longer in the slip then my old 38 Special was.

Or Kool Aids 38 Top Gun is really 2 feet bigger then my 38 Special was.

I tease BZ all the time,,,,he wanted a nice 38 foot boat so he bought a 42 Fountain.

Tie my 36 and Sommers 35 together and tell me its only a foot difference.

Any good hull north of 35 feet and you will get where you need to go on any day a 42 is out there,,,, just a little slower depending.

After that its wave spacing, timing, speed and a hundered other variables.
