we used fluke anchors during the shootout on Saturday. slight breeze and a little chop off the races boats. my smaller fluke anchor with 4-5 feet of heavy gauge chain attached to it hooked us in so well that we had to move the boat to break it loose and it was caked in mud when we got it out. that was a cheapy anchor, the chain I believe was the key to hooking it in. among the 2 boats we had, we were among the few with anchors out and somehow we held the whole line

I agree with all of the above I have both style of anchors and they work with the proper amount of scope. I have heard of guys buying 60lb bags of sand and tying an anchor rope around them, and when its time to go drag the bag and it will tear open releasing it's contents. Only a wives tale at this point.

Our anchor was the 540 Sea we were tied to. Worked Very well

My anchor was on the Formula we had to hitch ride on for Sat after breaking a drive on Fri.
