LOTO-best anchor?

getting ready for the shootout, every year we have issues keeping the boats from breaking anchors loose. what is everyone using down there? we have been using fluke anchors, hit and miss results. 27' and a 38'

I always used a big fluke style anchor with a couple feet of chain & at least 100 ft of rope just in case!
Must have enough rope to get a good angle for the anchor to lock good! Being from river boating, I found out quick how 50 ft of rope isn't enough at LOTO!

yea I hear ya on the river deal, I am from Omaha and boat the river here. never had a issue with a anchor catching before LOTO lol

I use a box anchor with great results. Give Eddie as call at Lake Ozark Marine. He may have them in stock at a very fair price.

Box anchors seem to work best. I wish I didn't have a fluke anchor because I have to have 250' of line to get a decent amount of scope in 80-100ft water depth.

Put 20-25 feet of heavy chain on it and the fluke anchor will work fine. The decorative windlass anchors on all those Formulas on LOTO hold like a rock, and that's because Formula puts 150 foot of all chain with them.

Box anchors work great

I agree with all of the above I have both style of anchors and they work with the proper amount of scope. I have heard of guys buying 60lb bags of sand and tying an anchor rope around them, and when its time to go drag the bag and it will tear open releasing it's contents. Only a wives tale at this point.

i dont want to lose my box anchor so ill try & wave a cruiser in next to me. thought about trying the sandbag trick, but knowing my luck it will start leaking sand in the boat on the way to the course.

the best ancor is a clean one,,just park next to a big fat boat and tie off and leave your's where its at lol..
