Old CRC race boat
#21
I think a canopy boat is much safer. However I wanted something different. The canopy looks very cool, but in reality the heat is too much without A/C and it is loud. Also very intimidating for my wife to get into what she thinks is an all out race boat.

Brad,
I never really considered the heat and added noise factors,AC while running ouch, only the safety factors constantly being drilled into my head ever weekend by a few of my Skater friends, X boat racing buddies.
I understand that this is supposed to be fun as well. It is easy to loose that perspective I did it a few years back in drag racing when we went from my 10" door slammer to the Pro Mod car.Sold it all!
Looks like you are finding that happy medium, good luck and thanks for sharing your project with us.I'm not sure we really want a canopy boat now, defiantly makes me reconsider.
Sorry for the thread hijack, that CRC rig is sweet as hell!

I have heard the dive team issue before also. I can tell you I would much rather take my chances with drowning in a full canopy pleasure boat in a high speed incident than getting tossed out of a boat at a buck fifty. At least you have a chance in a canopy with belts on. Even in race conditions the divers rarely need to pry somebody out of boat unless the worst has happened.
However that taken into account I still want the fun factor with my boat, hence no top. The CRC is a partial conversion and that is really nice also. The CRC price seems reasonable for what your getting.
