40 mti vs 388 skater
#2
We love our 40 MTI. It's been great. Easy to tow. Great in rough gulf water. First weekend we got the boat we ran from Fort Myers to Sarasota for our FMO weekend run. Coming back the weather picked up and was pretty windy. We ran the outside with white caps in the gulf. We came in the pass to head in and my wife goes wow that was awesome!!!
Last weekend we had a blast with the MTI Fun run in the keys. A ton of great people. MTI plans on doing a few more runs.
Have not been on a 388, I'm sure it's a great boat.
Good luck, fun spot to be in

I am sure they are both great boats but I like the MTI better and may be back in the ranks of the MTI owners in the next week or so... (Stay Tuned for that!) Ihad a 39/40RP and I had some engine issues a couple different times but that is anything. The boat itself runs flat and is fast. The Skater is probably faster and can handle much more power.
The difference is the owners... If you are an owner that wants to sit at the dock and talk about every MPH you squeezed out and the only thing that truly matters is being first to the dock then you may be a skater guy. If you are a business man who loves boating and going fast but at the end of the day it doesn't matter when you get there as long as you are safe and you enjoy the time at the dock with your stereo on and the extra storage in the front etc.. Then you may be better suited for an MTI. I personally love the look of the newer Skaters but the older ones I wasn't as fond of but the MTI is a look that is only an MTI and the boat and their owners seem to be more friendly and the club of owners will welcome you with open arms. It is truly a great group of folks.
