Sunny Isles PHOTOS

The water yesterday was almost glass for the Bimini Challenge...
Bob Teague and I were talking- he called it 'shiny'.

Brad and Larry have done a spectacular job putting this thing together.
Everyone here is having a great time (well, Gino, Lisa and Jimmy had some issues)
and the weather in south Florida is gonna be great all weekend.
Huge thanks to Gino and Renea; and Jim Lee for getting us into the helicopters.

Lori (PicChic) and I have tons of photos from yesterday's run and from the party and bikini contest last night.

Stay tuned! There's a lot more coming this weekend.

Here are a few shots from the run.
I've started a set here.

Gino, she was great. Thanks so much for letting me tag along.

There wasn't a staggered start, so we were out of position when everyone took off- you guys were GONE in a very short time...
Those little R44's are no match for the MTI... :drink:

Rick, I would guess yes. There is no way they could close that ramp to the public on a weekend.
We were over at the pits today and the marina lot was totally full and the ramp was busy as hell. If I hear different, I'll let ya know.

rchevelle71 06-13-2009 04:05 PM

GLH 06-13-2009 08:25 PM

Maritime_Eng 06-13-2009 08:37 PM

Hey Jay! Glad to see you have finally figured out how to use the camera! :)

Swede 06-13-2009 08:56 PM

Those are awesome. That might be the coolest looking water I've seen in any pics yet.

LubeJobs42 06-13-2009 11:56 PM

I'm proud to say it was my wife flying the helicopter. She started taking lessons a little under a year ago so she could be able to follow us on our runs. You could not possibly imagine whats involved in becoming a licensed Helicopter pilot. I never could have done it! I'm very proud of her!

The Vee was replaced. The owner now has a sweet 44' Nortech Roadster. It is the Red/Gold one in the pics.

Thanks! We had an absolute blast.

This unique event was so much fun from start to finish that it's hard to describe it all to anyone who wasn't there.
All of you who worked so hard to make it happen deserve a ton of credit for creating an offshore boating event like no other. :ernaehrung004:

Thanks again for the hospitality.

LubeJobs42 06-15-2009 07:08 PM

What a weekend! Brad and larry really hit it out of the park. I still can't believe the turnout. With all the bumps they had along the way, with OSO backing out with days left, things were looking a little rocky. All I can say it was the ones that didn't show that really missed out. Thank you again for a most memorible weekend!

jayboat 06-15-2009 07:40 PM

You said it, Gino!
And Lori and I have a ton of pix to show em what they missed. :drink:

A few more from Sunday and an aerial of the park:

Thank you again to everyone you came and supported this year’s event. Larry and I and the entire team are very grateful.

If you did not attend you have no idea what was missed. From Thursdays VIP welcome in the penthouse of the Sayan with Miss Florida, TV stars, NFL Greats and race boat legends new and old.

The Bimini Ocean Race brought speed and the pics to prove racers and performance pleasure boaters can run together!

Friday’s party was incredible with a great band and what can only be described as the greatest Rock themed swimsuit show ever. With the band playing Crazy ***** extended long play version. Betty Bangs girls absolutely brought it!

Saturday 17 Boats ran to Jimmy Johnsons Big Chill, relaxed in the pool great food great people in what was described as a true recreational boating event.

Saturday Night's party was another example of only the best spirited group ever and Sunday’s racing brought some thrills no one could have expected.

The pictures only tell part of the story and they are some of the greatest ever.
